Booking Through Thursday

booking There are actually two sets of questions today, but I’m gong to combine them in one post.

Do you give books as gifts? To everyone? Or only to select people? How do you feel about receiving books as gifts?

What is the best book you ever bought for yourself? And, why? What made it the best? What made it so special?

I do give books as gifts, but only when I find one that’s perfect for that person. This year, so far, my daughter, husband and brother-in-law are getting books, but I’m not done shopping yet. I sometimes use bookstore gift cards as stocking stuffers, too.

I love receiving books as gifts, even if they’re not ones I would necessarily choose for myself.

I’m not sure what the best book I ever bought myself was, to be honest. Maybe it was my really basic cookbook. I can’t think of the title right now, but not only does it get a lot of use, it also helped me learn that cooking can be fun and gave me confidence to try other recipes and cookbooks.

Actually, I finally looked and it’s Betty Crocker’s cooking basics. Of course, the spine is starting to tear and a couple of pages are stuck together, but I love that it even tells you how to scramble eggs.
