Sway Giveaway

sway Sway by Zachary Lazar

Three dramatic and emblematic stories intertwine in Zachary Lazar’s extraordinary new novel, Sway–the early days of the Rolling Stones, including the romantic triangle of Brian Jones, Anita Pallenberg, and Keith Richards; the life of avant-garde filmmaker Kenneth Anger; and the community of Charles Manson and his followers. Lazar illuminates an hour in American history when rapture found its roots in idolatrous figures and led to unprovoked and inexplicable violence. Connecting all the stories in this novel is Bobby Beausoleil, a beautiful California boy who appeared in an Anger film and eventually joined the Manson “family.” With great artistry, Lazar weaves scenes from these real lives together into a true but heightened reality, making superstars human, giving demons reality, and restoring mythic events to the scale of daily life.

The giveaway:

Thanks to the Hachette Book Group, I’m giving away five copies of Sway. To enter, just leave a comment below and I will draw a winner on March 6. This contest is open to the US and Canada only, and no PO Boxes.

A question:

What’s your favorite Rolling Stones song?

  1. This is tough, I have two favorites…well several, but what stands out to me is “Under My Thumb” and “Wild Horses.” I would absolute LOVE this!

And thank you for entering my giveaway. I hate dusting too. We live off a dirt road, and I swear it is next to impossible to keep up with it. My son uses a Swiffer thing and I got over everything afterwards with the Pledge. UGH!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. I have to say, my attitude toward the Stones changed recently. Long story that’s probably not fair to anyone involved… but I’ll always like their music.

No need to enter me, although I’d love to read this — I’ve got a PO Box. I’m just dropping in to say thanks for the e-mail. I’ve got this posted at Win a Book for you!

  3. Gwendolyn B.

I’d love to read this book! Thank you for hosting the giveaway. Right now, my favorite Stones song is “Beast of Burden.” Tomorrow, it might be “Factory Girl.” They’re all so good!

  4. Freda Mans

Since The Rolling Stones are such a wonderful band, that have made so many songs, its reallyhard to peg it down to just one. However I have chosen one to list.

    Tumbling Dice.

    Have a beautiful weekend!

  5. Mel K.

    SATISFACTION (I can’t get no)
I would LOVE to win this book and share it with my sister. She’s a throwback from the 60’s.
I was in a band so I can relate to the drama. It would have been so cool to jam with the Stones. Music and Manson. Two of my favorite subjects!

    Mel K.
