Two Lethal Lies by Annie Solomon

In this romantic suspense novel, Solomon grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me from Tennessee to Florida to New York, never letting go. The story never pauses, never takes a break from the tension.

Mitch has spent his life on the run, protecting his “daughter” Julia since the day she was  born, keeping a secret that could destroy their lives. A series of events in Tennessee bring him to the attention of the FBI. Eventually Mitch is arrested and his daughter taken from him. He has nowhere to turn, until Neesy Brown, a beautiful woman he has known for only a short time, offers to help.

Mitch is a true hero, honest, trustworthy, tough but tender-hearted, and willing to do anything it takes to protect the daughter he adores. Of course, this is a romance. Neesy knows that men can hurt you, but she intuitively trusts Mitch, believes he’s telling the truth, and almost ends up getting killed for her troubles. I did like how she treated Julia and how often she helped Mitch for Julia’s sake. As a couple they work in fiction, but in real life I would have been yelling at Neesy for being an idiot, telling her to stay away. The bad guy is downright skin-crawling creepy, and one of the things that kept me reading is needing to find out how Neesy and Mitch get through all the dark spots to the promised happy ending.

I won’t say I felt emotionally connected to the characters, but the plot and the writing kept me involved, kept me turning pages, kept me picking up the book when I should have been cooking.

I like a balance of romance/suspense. I ready Annie’s One Deadly Sin, it was my first of hers, & enjoyed it very much. She’s become a favorite author.

i tend to like it heavier on the suspense, but then i read mysteries for the same reason….

as long as it’s well written and keeps me on the edge of my seat, it’s all good! 🙂

I like romantic suspense books, and I’ll take it either way–heavier on romance or suspense. What is most compelling for me in a book is the characters. I’ve enjoyed several of Solomon’s books in the past. Thanks for the giveaway.

I like an equal balance of suspense and romance. Although, I don’t mind if it tips one way or the other. Just so long as it’s good. :0)

Would love to give this one a try. It sounds really good.

    Thanks!
