A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Chuck Fisher

The Blurb:

This beautiful re-imagining of Charles Dickens’s timeless fable, A Christmas Carol: A Pop-Up Book features artist Chuck Fischer’s richly painted depictions of the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, brought to life in intricate pop-up scenes by paper engineer Bruce Foster. The entire text of A Christmas Carol is reproduced in five removable, illustrated, keepsake booklets. An introductory booklet provides a biography of Dickens and an illustrated feature on the enduring appeal of this beloved story. The perfect gift, A Christmas Carol, now in pop-up form, will brighten the holidays for young and old.

My Thoughts:

This is simply gorgeous! Pop-up books have evolved so much from the ones I can remember from when I was a child. It’s magical, seeing the story I know and love brought to life in this way. I also love that the whole story is included even if it’s on booklets that are removable. It hasn’t been watered down for the sake of the format. We still get the story of Scrooge’s transformation from a bitter, lonely old miser to a man who truly appreciates friendship, love, and the Christmas season. I have to admit that I get caught up in the art of the book, and it’s hard to pull out the booklets and actually read the story. It’s definitely worth doing, though.

I do like A Christmas Carol. It’s such a well-done story, start to finish. My favorite, though is Clement Clarke Moore’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Okay, I’m reaching way far back here, but I memorized and performed that poem at a kindergarten recital. Naturally, it’s been my favorite since then! The book looks beautiful. Thanks for a great giveaway.

  • I think I’ve read a few pop-up books when I was young. This one looks so good! I think this is the only Christmas story that I could think of. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Oh, I was hoping to hear this book was great! There are so many Christmas stories that I enjoy and read with my daughter each year. One of our favorites is Red Boots for Christmas — a little book she got free in the mail and we later found out it was a cartoon. Haven’t seen it on tv in a few years, though.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

I used to love popup books as a kid! My favorite Christmas story is of course, the story of the birth of a Savior! A true and timeless story promising us hope and redemption. Christmas is an awesome time of year 🙂

I love this classic tale, and it would be a wonderful gift for my little nephews who are too little for the original… One of my favourite Christmas stories is ‘The Little Match Girl’… Thank you!

  • The Christmas season is my favorite time of the year; it also gives me a good excuse to give people presents! One of our traditions is the “Christmas book box” – as each of the children (and now grandchildren) see books they’d like through the year, they add it to their book list (crossing off if they or someone else buys it). Around now (November), we all get copies of the lists and keep each other informed about which books we have already bought for someone, and on Christmas Eve, everyone gets a single wrapped present full of the books that everyone else has purchased for them 🙂 If I won this, it would go into my GrandBebe JoJo’s Christmas book box!

  • A Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life battle each other at the top of my list for favorite holiday story. I love a creative tale about redemption and second chances! I also think of Little Women at this time of year, I guess because it starts at Christmas, because the story of those sweet girls is a treasure, and because I always remember the year I received Little Women for Christmas! Thanks for the generous giveaway!

  • I am giving this away on my blog and it is lovely but I want a copy so I can have to give to my new grandson to start a holiday book library for his first Christmas. One of my favorite stories is O’Henry’s The Gift of the Magi

I love all Christmas stories and I love pop-up books as well. Together they make a perfect present. We always got books for Christmas as children….all the various series books. In fact, we didn’t get books too often any other way than as gifts. Children today are so lucky to get them whenever they want !

This looks like a beautifully illustrated version of Charles Dickens classic. This is a favorite story of mine, my husband’s and son’s. We watch the movie every Christmas eve as a tradition and reminder. The story has a good life lesson that teaches people to be more giving and less selfish. Also to appreciate life and help those around us. I would love to have this story to read to my son and to share with my niece and nephews.
