I had a delicious breakfast today – wheat toast with sweet potato butter.

Yesterday, my mom, Amber and I went up to Amish Country, specifically Walnut Creek and Berlin, Ohio. Now we go up that way several times a year, and we have our favorite stops. Der Dutchman for lunch, which, for me, has to include mashed potatoes covered with noodles and oatmeal pie for dessert. Then shopping. We all got some cute things, pictures, a carving, some things for a fairy garden. I’m not showing you them; I’ll do a picture when it’s ready.

And our last stop is Walnut Creek Cheese. They have the most amazing selection of jams and jellies. As you can see from the picture above, we got quite a few, including the sweet potato butter, tomato jam and a sweet peanut butter spread. So yummy!! My mom also got a big jar of I think it was rhubarb jam. And, of course, I had to get some bread to put it on. I have to say they have the best homemade bread, I just wish I knew where I could get some similar in town. I may have to break down and figure out how to make it. We also picked up some cheeses and coffees.

I atually just finished a book that takes place in Ohio’s Amish country, A Plain Death . I haven’t written my review yet, but I really enjoyed it. It’s a good mystery, and while not set in the county we visit, it did feel familiar.

And today we saw The Pirates! Band of Misfits in the theater. Did you know it’s based on a book? The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists by Gideon Defoe. I thought it was pretty funny, but Amber was unimpressed. It’s a group of pirates, including the requisite woman dressed as a man, and they meet up with Charles Darwin. Hijinks ensue. I wish it hadn’t been 3D though, I’m just tired of it.

And then this evening I went out to the park. I’m on week 4 of the Couch to 5K program, but I keep wussing out on the last run. Next time, I’ll do the whole thing. (Hopefully.)

So, how was your weekend? Read anything good?
