I’m sure I’m in the same position as a lot of moms out there. Live gets busy, so when I saw Hurry Less, Worry Less for Moms by Judy Christie, I knew I had to read it. I’m the target audience, a Christian mom trying to juggle everything from work to hanging out with my family to finding time to exercise, not to mention laundry and dishes.
Hurry Less, Worry Less for Moms is a practical, helpful book. There are ten short chapters, each with a different focus, but all leading to a more fulfilling, peaceful family life and becoming the mother, and woman, that you want to be. Each section follows a format. It starts with an encouraging word and an everyday step, then follows the discussion about the topic, whether it be peace, finding joy, or becoming organized, with actual practical advice, lists of ideas, advice from other moms. Then the chapter ends with a tip, a “mom’s special scripture,” and a prayer.
It’s not earth-shattering, not amazing new ideas, but it’s full of good, reasonable steps, from evaluating your talents to things I already knew but it’s good to be reminded of, like eating together or taking time for individuals. And it’s full of scripture and Biblical references, which I found inspirational.
[Philippians 4:4-7] outlines basic steps that have wondrous results in the peace department and in living an overall less hurried and less worried life:
Be glad.
Be gentle.
Know that God is with you.
Don’t worry.
Pray, asking God for what you need.
Offer thanks for your blessing. Your many blessing. The very good things that hapen in your life, with your famiy, for big things and little things and all those in between.
For peace to find its was into your daily life, turn down the volume on your nioisy world. (pg. 31)
Hurry Less, Worry Less for Moms is one I’ll be reading again, reading slowly and going through the steps, incorporating the guidance into my life. It’s a short book, but packed full. It also includes a study guide, and I do think it would be a good book to work through with a small group of women, providing support and encouragement to each other.

Even though the advice isn’t totally fresh or unique, it still sounds like a helpful book.
The hurry part I have down, I mean, I do not hurry, but the rest…not so much
Wish I had had this book when my kids were young and I was working full time! Nice review and quotes.

I hope you enjoy it again…learning life strategies to worry less is always a win in my book.
