Uptight FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn and foul-mouthed Boston cop Shannon Mullins couldn’t be more incompatible. But when they join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies.

The Heat is a funny, female buddy-cop movie. Ashburn and Mullins are opposites. Ashburn is uptight, uncomfortable with people, all bottled up. Mullins is loud, obnoxious, but gets along with people at least some of the time. The one thing they have in common is that they both want to get the bad guy. At first, it’s almost a competition, but eventually, predictably, they find working together as a team brings better results.

And it is predictable. The plot is definitely not the reason to see this one – McCarthy and Bullock are. They’re funny and fun to watch. The one-liners, the physical comedy like when both are trying to go through the door at the same time, had me laughing at loud at moments.

I have never seen McCarthy in anything before. I don’t watch her tv show and I missed Bridesmaids, but to be honest, I think a little of her probably goes a long way. I like that she had Bullock as a partner. McCarthy alone may have killed me.

I did like this one better than my husband. I thought it was pretty entertaining – he thought it was just okay.
