Spring is here! Time for new bedding, at least at my house. It seems like all my light sheets have holes or have worn-out elastic at the corners.

When the weather starts to warm up in the spring and summer, chances are you’re like my husband, throwing that heavy winter blanket off your bed in the middle of the night. I could use flannel sheets all year long, but with our air conditioning on the fritz, even I’ve been getting warm at night. And I’d love a bedspread that I could wash at home instead of having to take it to the dry cleaner.

Maybe it’s time to just go out and buy some wonderful spring and summer bedding for your home, too. No matter what you’re style, you can find great seasonal bedding from companies like BeddingStyle.

Use this guide to help you choose the best possible bedding for your home this season.

Know Your Size

It might sound really obvious, but a lot of people who have had the same mattress and bedding for a few years have forgotten what size bed they have! Of course, you need to be looking at queen bedding sets if you have a queen mattress, so you need to be sure of what you have.

Check your mattress for an identifying tag. If you can’t find one, you should be able to measure the mattress and look up mattress sizes online to identify which type you have.

Without knowing the right size your new bedding just won’t look right.

Pick Light Colors

Spring is a time when light colors work best, and if you’re buying bedding for the season, you don’t really need something that you want to live with all year long. That means you can go crazy and buy those fun spring colors like mint, robin’s egg blue or anything that strikes your fancy.

You might even want to consider floral prints or other fun prints for spring. Just make sure you don’t buy bedding that has too much pattern or is too busy for a small room.

If you do the space will look smaller than it really is, and that’s definitely not something you want.

Consider Materials

Lots of bedding is sold as ideal for spring or summer, but not everything out there really is, especially if you tend to get hot or cold when you sleep. That’s why thinking about the material and how it will feel when you’re under it for long periods of time is important.

If you tend to be very hot when you sleep, consider light cotton materials. People that get cold at night tend to do best in the spring with a light down material or loose, soft wool filling.

I think a nice soft cotton sheet set would be perfect for us. And maybe a new pillow, too.
