Sunday Salon – 8/4

I really did start this post on Sunday, but you know how that goes sometimes. Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlight: We had my mom and my brother and his family out for a cookout on Saturday. I failed to take any pictures, but it was a lot of fun. Amber and I went to Phipps Conservatory on Friday. Their current show takes some of Van Gogh's paintings and reinterprets them in flowers. It is gorgeous! Reading: You can see yesterday's post for how the Reverse Readathon went for me. This week’s posts: Everything Below the Waist by Jennifer BlockMurder in the Mill-Race by E. C. R. Lorac Watching: We watched Hobbs and Shaw today. I thought it was fun. Looking forward to: There's nothing really coming up on my calendar. I should plan something fun. ...

Sunday Salon – 7/28

I really did start this post on Sunday, but you know how that goes sometimes. Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlight: I think the week's highlight for me was the Pirates baseball game we went to. Even though the Pirates are doing terrible, I still had fun at the game. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0UaKiuAWxq/ Reading: Dewey's 24 Hour Reverse Readathon starts on Friday at 8:oo p.m. I love the reverse readathon, so of course I'm joining in, but we're having a cookout on Saturday, so won't be reading the whole 24 hours. This week's posts: The Readaholics and the Poirot Puzzle by Laura DiSilverioPicnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay Playing: We played The Mind a couple of times recently. It's a deck with cards 1-100, and during the game you try to complete a certain number of levels depending on the number of players. In a level, each player receives a hand of cards equal to the number of...

Sunday Salon – 7/14

Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlight: We spent the weekend at Pymatuning Lake and had a nice time. We went to a couple of antique shops, ate too much, and just hung out with friends. Amber took this photo, but it's on my phone, so I can steal it. Reading: I finally set aside Woman on the Edge of Time. Maybe I'll pick it up again sometime, but now I'm just not in the mood now I guess. It made me look at all the other books I have set aside to hopefully come back to. Any comments on them? Any you love? Any you think I should just take off my list altogether? My "to get back to" list: Don Quixote by Miguel de CervantesOur Man in Havana by Graham GreeneDune by Frank HerbertThe Woman in White by Wilkie CollinsGirl Waits with Gun by Amy StewartThe Long and Faraway Gone by Lou BerneyThe...

Sunday Salon – 7/7

Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Groupto participate. Week’s Highlight: We had a really nice week. We had a cookout for the 4th, went to a couple of fireworks show and went to a Pirates Game. They lost, but it was still fun. Reading: I never did post my wrap-up for Sci-Fi June. Oops. This week is the Sharknado Readathon for COYER Summer. You’re trapped in your house because there’s a Sharknado outside. You can only read the books on your physical shelf—no book not in your home at the start of the readathon—counts. I posted my potential reads on Instagram. My choices are a bit limited since we've been doing a little work around the house and I've been painting bookshelves, so most of my books are currently in boxes https://www.instagram.com/p/BzoCsLdgt8k/ Last week’s posts: The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley I've got a couple of reviews I need to get around to posting, but this week is pretty...

Sunday Salon – 6/30

Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlight: We've been busy lately. A couple of weeks ago I was out of town for work, then we went to my brother's for a weekend and to go to the Origins Game Fair. We've been working around the house a bunch too. Reading: Sci-Fi June just ended. I'll try to have my wrap-up post done soon. We're still in the middle of Summer Coyer. The link to my progress is on my sidebar. Last week’s posts: Death of a Ladies’ Man by Helena MarchmontA Knife in the Fog by Bradley Harper I'm currently listening to One Summer: America 1927 by Bill Bryson which I am loving. It's full of interesting stories and little bits of trivia, it's the kind of fun non-fiction I really enjoy. Looking forward a bit the 24in48 July readathon is July 20-21 and Dewey's 24 Hour Reverse Readathon starts in the evening on August 2. The...

Sunday Salon

Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlight: We did a lot of yardwork this week, trimming and planting and weeding. And David hung up my hammock chair. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx_EKstAr5t/ Reading: It's Sci-Fi June and COYER Summer Hunt. I don't read a lot of sci-fi generally, but I do tend to save those on my list for this time of year. Last week’s posts: We by Yevgeny ZamyatinThe Overnight Kidnapper by Andrea CamilleriAccessory to War by Neil deGrasse Tyson and Avis Lang Watching: We watched the first few episodes of Blood and Treasure. It's not good, but it is fun. Looking forward to: Next weekend we've got a couple of graduation parties to go to. Then, Sunday, I have to head up to Lakeside for the annual meeting for work. I'm not really looking forward to it, but the evenings should be relaxing. ...
