Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlight: We got the new carpet in our living room and tile in the dining room done. It's looking so pretty in here. I also went on a retreat for work which was funner than I expected. We went to the Warther Museum in Dover, Ohio. He was a carver, really amazing work but kinda crazy too. We stayed at the Barn Inn, which was a really nice bed and breakfast. It was comfortable and charming and breakfast was delicious! Reading: I finished Miss Buncle's Book by D.E. Stevenson, which I adored. I'm in the middle of Death by Dumpling by Vivien Chien and am hoping to read some more before bed. Last week’s posts: Miss Buncle’s Book by D.E. Stevenson Watching: We watched Pokémon Detective Pikachu this evening. It was cute and fun. Amber's a Pokémon fan and I've been playing Pokémon Go. Looking forward to: Next weekend's Memorial Day. I...

Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlight: We went to Oberlin Friday to see the Art Show. The first three photos are of her work and the others are just some random pieces by her class. You may have already seen them if you follow me on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxV2LZ5HLHo/ Then on Saturday, we went to the Cleveland Zoo. I thin kit was probably nice for Amber to have a day away from campus before finals week. We really enjoyed the day. I didn't take a bunch of photos, but this one is from the entrance to The Rainforest. Reading: I did not get much reading time this week. In addition to visiting Amber, we've been working on getting the house ready for new carpet in the living room and new tile in the dining room this week. Right now, I'm in the middle of Miss Buncle's Book by D.E. Stevenson and Accessory to War by...

Sunday Salon – 5/6

Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. I was going to post this yesterday, but David got home from a few days at the lake and we just sat around watching tv instead. Week’s Highlight: I went to see the local high school's performance of Guys and Dolls Jr. It was a fun show and they did a really nice job. Now I want to see the original show sometime. Not sure about watching the movie with Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra though. Have any of you seen it? Reading: I finished Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. It was fascinating and sad. I'm listening to Accessory to War: The Unspoken Alliance Between Astrophysics and the Military by Neil deGrasse Tyson. It's interesting and I'm enjoying it, but I don't know how many tidbits of information I'll remember in six months. Next up in print is Miss Buncle's Book by D.E. Stevenson for...

I might show off more photos later this week. Reading: I borrowed Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann from the library. So far it's fascinating and chilling. Sunday Salon

Thanks to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting The Sunday Salon. Stop over there or at the Facebook Group to participate. Week’s Highlights: Saturday was David's birthday. We went to lunch at Red Lobster and went to a magic show in Pittsburgh at Liberty Magic. I think I might make a full post about the show. It was fun and just a really unique place. Reading: I listened to The Wolf and the Watchman by Niklas Natt och Dag and loved it, loved it, loved it. It's way grittier than most things I read and some of the descriptions were downright gruesome, but the story is so gripping and the atmosphere so real. Amazing book! I was on a mystery kick with my reviews this week. And I'm in the middle of two mysteries now. Maybe my next read should be from a different genre. Last week's reviews: The Loch Ness Papers by Paige SheltonMoonshine & Murder by Kathleen BrooksWillful Behavior by Donna LeonThe Wolf and the Watchman...

Sunday Salon

I'm posting this on Monday because we got back late yesterday from taking Amber back to school. Week’s Highlights: We played a bunch of board games and finally watched Captain Marvel, which I really enjoyed. And I got through my first Spring District Conference at work, so that was good. Something I’m Loving: I'm loving my new Jord watch. (pronounced Yode, like Yoda without the a.) Isn't it pretty? https://www.instagram.com/p/BvgwGESHZmi/ You can enter my giveaway at https://www.woodwatches.com/g/carolsnotebook to win $100 towards a watch of your choice. If I won, I'd probably pick the Fieldcrest Maple. I think it would be a lovely, simple everyday watch and at $139 it's pretty reasonable (with the $100 e-gift). Reading: I didn't post any reviews last week; it was busy. But I did finish Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport and The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad. Hopefully, I'll get my comments posted in the next couple of days. Watching: We watched Captain Marvel this week which was just a fun movie. Playing: We played...
