Summers in the seaside town of Noquit Maine are quiet and relaxing ... unless you find a mysterious dead body, a hunky ex-boyfriend shows up and you start getting instructions from ghostly relatives.
That’s exactly what happens to Morgan Blackmoore.
Suddenly, she finds herself in a race against time as she’s launched into a dangerous treasure hunt that pits her against modern day pirates who think she has the key to a three hundred year old secret.
To complicate matters even more, one of her sisters keeps talking to the ghost of their dead grandmother, another has crystals with unusually powerful healing properties and her cat has an uncanny habit of showing up in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.
Not to mention that her ex-boyfried, Luke Hunter, suddenly shows up in town after ten years of being overseas and claims to want to help her fight off these deadly pirates, but Morgan finds herself fighting her attraction to him instead.
Will Morgan outwit the treasure hunters and find the real killer before Sheriff Overton puts her in jail?
And what about Luke, is he really a good guy or just after the treasure himself?

Pirates and treasure hunts and cute guys with guns – an enjoyable read. It’s light and short, a perfect in-between book for me.

The Blackmoore sisters are a good group. They have close relationships with each other, but all have their own personalities, interests, and gifts. There’s a touch of paranormal – a cat with way more than nine lives, healing crystals, visits with a dead grandma, but it doesn’t take over the book. You could have the same story without the fantasy elements, but it wouldn’t be as fun.

I like the story, but a couple of things struck me as a bit odd. First of all, who exactly does Luke, Morgan’s ex, work for. It was never explained quite well enough for me. Yes, he’s on the Blackmoores’ side, but I wish I could have been a little clearer on his motives. Second, I don’t get the Sheriff’s grudge against the sisters and why he is so outrageous in some of his behavior. This is the second in the series I’ve read and I just don’t understand how he can get away with clearly biased investigation style.

Those two faults aside, it’s a great mystery with just the right touch of romance. I like how each of the women has her own strength’s and they only solve the problems they face by working together. The men that are on their side are strong and dependable and sexy, too. They don’t find the big treasure, though. Maybe next time?

There's more than one secret in the old Blackmoore house. Some have been buried for a long time and some are sitting closer to the surface.

Morgan and Fiona Blackmoore enjoy their simple life in the sleepy ocean-side town of Noquitt Maine where they offer herbal remedies and crystal healing for locals and tourists alike.

...Until Morgan is accused of killing the town shrew, Prudence Littlefield.

Suddenly the girls find themselves scrambling to find the real killer while they battle a crooked Sheriff, planted evidence, and a long list of suspects that all had a reason to want Prudence dead.

Handsome Jake Cooper is new to the Noquitt Maine police force, which is exactly why Fiona Blackmoore doesn't trust him. But with time running out and the evidence against her sister piling up, Fiona has to make a choice - will she trust Jake with her sisters case ... and her own heart?

This is a really light mystery with a bit of PG romance. I enjoyed it but there wasn’t much to it. I like the sisters and how they all support each other, but I kind of felt like we didn’t really know much about them or the other characters. On the one hand, that’s good, we’re not bogged own with a bunch or back story, but it left me with a few too many questions. I love the house and the shop and can see why the girls will do anything can not to lose it.

Oh, and there’s a magical cat. There’s a bit of a rumor around town that Balckmores may be witches, which they’re not, at least they don’t seem to be, but they do have this cat that has an uncanny way of being in just the right spot or finding just the thing they need. It’s just a hint of paranormal.

The mystery is okay. We get the actual killer’s name early, although the major clue is just kind of brushed aside. And of course, we have the amateur female detective putting her life in danger. Why is that par for the course in these type of cozy mysteries? The only one of the sisters who actually seems to have any investigative talent is left in the background until the end.

The romance was instant attraction, but not immediately trusting the guy. And, honestly, I can’t blame Fiona for not trusting Jake. He’s new in town, new to this particular police force and probably has some kind of secret in his background. But of course by the end they’re a couple and a cute one at that.

Dead Wrong is currently a freebie for Kindle and I’m glad I picked it up. I may read more in the series, when I’m in the mood for a light quick read. I’m still curious what the sheriff has against the women and of course if Morgan will get back together with the love of her life who we learn at the end of this one might be back in town.
