I don’t know if this weekly event is improving my vocabulary or if I’ve just been reading easy books lately, but I only came across one new-to-me word this week. I actually ran into it a couple of times, once on TV and once in something I was reading. I can’t find either example right now, but I’ll still list the word.
gimlet– a cocktail made with gin or vodka, sweetened lime juice, and sometimes soda water

I’ve heard that word before but forget what it means. It’s such a strange word for a drink; I wonder what its origin is?
I’ve heard that word before, but never tried the drink. Sounds quite tasty!
I’ve heard of a gimlet, but I’ve never had one. This might be a good excuse to try one. Thanks for playing along.
I’ve always called it a Vodka SLime (for soda / lime) but a Gimlet sounds much classier.
Love the name Vodka SLime!
I personally have never had a gimlet, but it does sound good.
It sounds very old fashioned, doesn’t it? Like something they’d serve in a black-and-white movie 🙂 Very sophisticated.
