Today’s Bout of Books Challenge is to list 5 Favorites. “Pick the topic of your choice and share your 5 favorite books that fit. Topics could be a favorite genre, a favorite trope, book boyfriends, or ANYTHING.” My choice is my 5 favorite detectives, in no particular order.
1.
Sherlock Holmes from The Hound of the Baskervilles and others by Arthur Conan Doyle
2.
Hercule Poirot from Agatha Christie’s series that started with The Mysterious Affair at Styles.
3.
Nancy Drew starred in her own series written by a variety of authors under the pen name Carolyn Keene. The first was The Secret of the Old Clock.
4.
Inspector Roderick Alleyn is the gentleman detective from Ngiao Marsh’s series that begins with A Man Lay Dead.
5.
Finally, we have Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. His first appearance was in Louise Penny’s Still Life.
I could have made a longer list, but it was only supposed to be 5. Who do you think should have been included?
I love the Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot stories. I’ve been looking for some new mysteries to try so I’ll have to check out the other books on this list. Great picks!
How about Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘Dupin’?
Good choice.
I liked Barnaby form Midsummer murders 😉
I haven’t read those yet.
I totally agree with the first three and I’ve only met Armand once so maybe I’ll agree with him later 🙂 Good list!
