Looking back, I don’t think I accomplished anything important in 2010. I participated in Relay for Life and volunteered at a couple of events at our church, but that’s really about it. Well, maybe I’m looking at it the wrong way. I have a smart, funny, talented daughter who enjoys life. I have a wonderful husband, who is a great father. Granted, I can’t take credit for either of those, but I do encourage them, cook, do the laundry, try not to complain about little things like the grass needing cut, help with homework. So, can having a happy, loving family be an accomplishment? I think that it is, but it’s not the same as more concrete goals, like save $X, write a short story, read a classic you’ve always been afraid of.
But what about my goals? To be honest, I’m not much of a goal-setter and to accomplish something in general it needs to first be a goal. What do I want to accomplish in 2011? When January rolls around next year and I’m thinking about my most important accomplishment, what do I want to be able to say? Hopefully, my family will still be happy and healthy, but I want to be able to say “I did THIS.”
It’s probably not a good sign that I just googled 2011 goals to see what other folks came up with. I told you I’m bad at the whole goal thing. The ones I ran across seemed to be mostly money related, and while saving and paying down debt is definitely a goal, it’s more of a goal for us as a couple/family, not one I can do on my own.
My Goals:
- Write.
- Scrapbook.
- Eat healthier.
- Volunteer.
Not a bad list. They’re all enjoyable and doable. Now it’s a matter of actually following through.
What about you? Is there anything special you hope to accomplish this year?
A great list!
I was taking stock of 2010 and although I was grateful for my many blessings, I was disappointed that I didn’t accomplish certain things I wanted to by the end of the year. I think I need to simplify and be more focused. Easier said than done, I know. I wish you luck with your goals.
good luck with your goals!
As for myself, I’ve set a goal to not waste money on useless things…like those shoes that look oh so pretty, but that I really don’t need 😉
But they do look so pretty. And they would go with that outfit perfectly. (Yeah – I like shoes too.)
Great list! I especially like #1 & #3. If you need some inspiration for eating healthier, here are a couple of links. Both blogs have great healthy living advice and delicious recipes!

Looks like a great list to me! Good luck!
I think you’ve already seen my goals, but just as a reminder … read, write, and exercise more!
LOL to googling goals 🙂 Those are great things to focus on, but having a happy family is an accomplishment!
