Sci-Fi Summer Readathon Wrap-up

The Sci-Fi Summer Readathon ended last night. From Seasons of Reading: Since Sci-Fi is a very specific genre, this will be strictly reading science fiction during the event. However, since fantasy is so closely related to science fiction, if you feel more comfortable reading fantasy, that is also fine. I enjoy genre specific readathons. They either give me a chance to wallow in the genres I love or pull books off my shelf that I've wanted to read but are a little outside of my box. Sci-fi falls into that second category. I finished one of the four book I started, but should finish the others within the next few days, so I consider that a success. Totals: Time listened: 11 hrs 31 mins Pages read: 151 Finished: The Collapsing Empire by John Scalzi Started:  The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers (at 2 hrs 8 mins), Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty (on page 131), and Sign of the Unicorn by Roger Zelazny (on page 20; only started...

Sci-Fi Summer Readathon

The Sci-Fi Summer Readathon starts today. I don't tend to read a lot of sci-fi, but I've got a couple I've been looking forward to so this gives me the perfect excuse to pull them off my shelf. From Seasons of Reading: Readathon dates: Thursday, June 1 at 12:00am CDT until Wednesday, June 7 at 11:59pm CDT (adjust your time zone accordingly). We do a different day configuration (rather than starting on a Monday and ending on a Sunday) to go along with the weirdness of Sci-Fi. 👽 Since Sci-Fi is a very specific genre, this will be strictly reading science fiction during the event. However, since fantasy is so closely related to science fiction, if you feel more comfortable reading fantasy, that is also fine. To check in on social media, we'll use hashtag #SciFiSummerJune As usual, you do not have to have a blog to participate...feel free to link up and check in from Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, etc. These days, it seems most...

Spring into Horror Readathon Wrap-up

The Spring into Horror Readathon ended yesterday. From Seasons of Reading: Remember, it's two weeks now...and at the tale end (the finale weekend) will also be Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon! Official dates are April 17 through 30, starting at 12am CDT Monday and ending at 11:59pm CDT on Sunday the 30th. Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the menu at the top of the blog. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. The hashtag for checking in on social media is #SpringHorror.  You can also check-in and chat at our Facebook group (also can be accessed in the blog menu). Just remember...the one main "rule" of Spring Into Horror is that you must read ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). The rest of the week...anything goes! Read more horror, or go in for less heart jolting fare. 😀 I had...

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon is today!! What is Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon? For 24 hours, we read books, post to our blogs, Twitters, Instagrams, Litsy, Facebook, Goodreads and MORE about our reading, and visit other readers’ homes online. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. I will be participating as much as I can, but I admit I always fall asleep way before the 24 hours is through. We might go on an artist's studio tour today, too, which will cut down on my time. I will also be posting on instagram, etc, randomly through the day. The official tag is #readathon. Instagram: carolsnotebook Twitter: carolsnotebook Facebook: Carol's Notebook Opening Survey 1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Eastern Ohio 2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? I don't know. First I'll be finishing the ones I'm in the middle of. 3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? I bought some turnovers to bake this evening. 4) Tell us a little...
