I don't play video games and I could care less about sports, but we bowl once in a while and play lots of board games. It's actually tough for me to pick my favorite game. My Favorite.. is a weekly meme hosted by Maureen’s Books. In this meme we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it.. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info: My Favorite Meme. I don't read many "new" authors. Most that I read have been around for quite awhile. But looking at the books I've enjoyed recently there was one debut novel, The Italian Party. Christina Lynch was the author. She's far from new to writing, but this was her first novel and I loved it. The setting was well-done and the character interesting. This is her bio from her website: Christina Lynch is a novelist, television writer and professor. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info: My Favorite Meme. Usually I prefer the book to the movie. Books have more space to develop plot lines, to let us get to know the characters, to allow for more subplots. But movies have the visual advantage obviously and the soundtrack. In the past, when asked if there was a movie I liked better than the book, I'd say The Shining. The movie was just flat-out scarier than the book, but I'm not a huge Stephen King fan to begin with. This year I have to add Strangers on a Train to the list. I read the book in February and then watched the Hitchcock movie shortly after. I know everyone will be surprised that I was a nerd in high school, before it was even a tiny bit cool, before the Big Bang Theory and the board game renaissance. I was also a band geek, but being in band was definitely my favorite high school experience. Most of my friends were there. In marching season, we were a "competition band" and probably a little stuck up, but we worked hard and sounded good, at least that's how I remember it. We performed at football games, obviously, even though I'm not sure that any of us actually cared about the games, and went to local shows. We also went to San Antonio...

I enjoy playing the piano, but I get paid for that occasionally, so I'm not sure if it counts as a hobby. And then there's blogging. Does that count as a hobby? Probably, but I connect it to reading, so it's not a favorite separate hobby. I don't think I would have any other type of blog. I actually don't read many trilogies, even though three does seem like a perfect length for a series; long enough to get immersed in a world, short enough to not get bored. Since I still haven't read the last in the Divine Cities trilogy, I can't choose it as my favorite. Yes, I know I need to read it. I think I just love the world and don't really want it to end. Or I'm afraid of who is going to get hurt and how badly. My current favorite trilogy is The Gamehouse Trilogy by Claire North. They're three novellas, only published on audio and as ebooks.
