I am feeling kind of miserable this evening, so this review is going to be short and to the point. I just have a cold, but I’m tired and stuffed up and all I want to do is lay down and go to sleep. Happily the timekeepers must realize how much I need a little extra sleep, since tonight is the night we turn back our clocks, and an extra hour of NyQuil-aided sleep will be a good thing. The bad thing is that life doesn’t stop when I’m not feeling well and right now my daughter is practicing her trumpet. I’m glad she is and that she enjoys playing it, but it’s not exactly gentle and sleep inducing, especially since she’s only been playing for 5 weeks. Hard to sleep through.
I’m a bit of a fairy tale junkie and it might be an interest I’m passing on to my daughter, Amber (11). The Sister Grimm is a series we both enjoy.
In Magic and Other Misdemeanors, sisters Daphne and Sabrina Grimm along with their Granny Relda live in Ferryport Landing, a town in upstate New York, along with most of the Everafters, the people and creatures from fairy tales. The girls and their grandmother are Fairy Tale detectives, solving crimes and mysteries and helping keep the everafters a secret from humans. In this book, the girls are on their first case alone, because Granny is dealing with a tax issue and Mr. Canis is coming closer and closer to turning back into the Big Bad Wolf. Several magical items are missing and it’s up to the girls to figure out who has them before the past, present and future collide , with terrible results.
This has actually been my least favorite in the series so far. The girls are wonderful and I like how Puck’s character is evolving, but the whole time travel aspect just annoyed me. We’ve already got fairy tale characters, mythical monsters and magic mirrors, do we really need time travel too? It’s not one you can skip though, since the stories in this series rely so heavily on each other.

There is nothing worse than feeling that badly…you shouldn’t even be thinking about writing reviews…Advil pm…and Vicks…and rest…chicken soup tomorrow!!!
Actually, I went to sleep on the couch soon after I posted that, and then slept all day Sunday.
Oh, I hope you feel better soon! If the NyQuil doesn’t work, hopefully curling up in bed with a book does 🙂
My eyes are so tired, even today when I’m feeling a little better. I don’t think I even picked up a book once yesterday.
Oh it sounds like so much fun 😀
