I’m participating in WordPress.com’s Writing201: Poetry that runs this week and next.
“On the menu today: Journeys, limericks, and alliteration.” I ignored the alliteration part and I realize the limericks would be booted out of any limerick contest, but it’s what I’ve got today.
Blackbeard Blackbeard was king of the sea, before his ship all others would flee. He buried his treasure, took more for good measure, then lost his head to the Royal Navy. The Neighbor Jerry was friendly and quiet But the police didn't quite buy it. They knocked down the door, searched floor to floor, and found her locked in a closet. The Road The road stretches out, long and straight, calling us, begging us not to wait. The stars are pale; the chips are stale, but still we leave, heading across the state.
Your Blackbeard limerick could easily fit as a sailor chant. Nice.
They’re great – my favourite is The Neighbour
These are fun! Good work!
