My husband and daughter got me a Fitbit Blaze for Christmas. So far, I love it. I love that it shows me texts and notifies me of phone calls. I think one of my New Year’s Resolutions is going to be put down my phone and I think this will help. If I can see when I get texts as long as I’m within 20 ft of my phone, I think I’ll be less likely to just have it with me all the time and therefore less likely to pick it up and check facebook or play a game or whatever. It gives me hourly reminders to move if I haven’t gone at least 250 steps. It also tracks exercise better and counts floors, which my old one didn’t do. I just got this floor badge.
I didn’t keep very good track of what I did this past week, with the holidays and David and Amber both not feeling up to par.
I do know that yesterday I took the dog for a walk and did some weights in the evening.
New Year Fitness Goals:
– Lose weight. My goal for the year is to get down to 115 lbs. David’s goal is to lose as much weight as possible without just starving himself before his next doctor’s appointment, so there will have to be an emphasis on eating healthy and exercising.
– Run 2 5ks, 1 10K and 1 half. I already have the list in my head, but am not quite ready to register.
– Hit my weekly step goal (56,000 steps) for 48 weeks. I figure giving myself a leeway of 4 weeks takes into account getting sick, going on vacation, etc.
How was your week? Readers’ Workouts is hosted by Joy at Joy’s Book Blog .
My fitbit died after 3 months….and we never sent it back to get a new one
That would have annoyed me. They’re too expensive to only work 3 months.
I didn’t know the Blaze will hook up to your phone – that’s awesome! Good luck with your goals!
That’s part of the reason I got it. And I miss not wearing a watch.
The Blaze sounds great! Good luck!
So far i really like it, but of course it’s only been two days.
I didn’t like my Fitbit, I’m thinking about getting a Moov.
I love the idea of hourly reminders to move. Great new year goals!
Good luck on your goals. I’ve never tried running a half-marathon, can’t imagine the pain that it would take to train for such a feat. Biking is much more to my liking. 🙂
