Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
Today’s topic is “Authors I’ve read the most books by.” I don’t know if I can be accurate with this one. I’m just going by my Goodreads account, so obviously that won’t count books I read before 2006-ish.
There are some obvious authors that won’t make this list that should be included like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Carolyn Keene (who I know is not actually one person, but that’s okay), and Francine Pascal. Mary Pope Osborne should be on the list because of all the books I read with Amber when she was little. There are some that will be on the list like Janet Evanovich who are not actually favorite authors, just easy reads. Also, the number I show for Agatha Christie is not really accurate; I’ve read almost all of hers over the years, but not all recently.
Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By:
- Ngaio Marsh – 32 books
- Agatha Christie – 20 books
- Donna Leon – 16 books
- Louise Penny – 15 books
- Andrea Camilleri – 13 books
- Matthew Costello and Neil Richards – 10 novellas
- Leighann Dobbs – 10 books/novellas
- Janet Evanovich – 10 books
- Margery Allingham – 9 books
- Jim Butcher – 8 books
- Kate Wilhelm – 8 books
I don’t have any crossover with your list, but aw, Mary Pope Osborne. My younger brother was more into those than I was, but I still have fond memories of reading a few.

We even had some on audio which were perfect for car rides when Amber was little.
I enjoy Jim Butcher’s books but I never seem to pick them up as often as I should. I remember the Magic Treehouse books, they were the height of cool when I was in middle school, lol
It’s actually been ages since I read one of Jim Butcher’s books, 2008 I think.
I love Louise Penny! I’m reading the Gamache series slowly so I can really savor it. I’m on Book 11, I think. Such a great series! I’ve seen Penny on a lot of lists today and it makes me happy that so many of us enjoy her books.
Happy TTT!

It’s the one series my mom and I both read.
Agatha Christie is a classic, although I haven’t read anything by her… yet.
She is definitely one of my favorite authors.
I don’t really know your authors other than Agatha Christie and Janet Evanovich…
My Tuesday Post
They’re mostly mystery writers.
Ah hah that would be why… I need to broaden my mystery horizons for sure.
Or not. I tend to read what I like. Romance, for example, is not a genre I read often.
Love your list, Carol. I haven’t read a book by Agatha Christie in a long time. Thanks for sharing.
Every once in a while, I reread one of hers. They’re definitely comfort reads for me.
What a great post, its certainly got me thinking. Of the author’s on your list it is only Donna Leon and Jim Butcher I know well and even then neither of them would make it onto my top ten of Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By.
It’s an odd list really. I haven’t read Jim Butcher in ages, and I’m not a fan of Evanovich’s longest series.
