Midnight Crossroad by Charlaine Harris

Title: Midnight Crossroad (Midnight, Texas #1) Author: Charlaine Harris Read by: Susan Bennett Category: Mystery, Paranormal Audio published: May 6, 2014 by Recorded Books Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Add: Goodreads Purchase: Audible | Amazon | Book Depository Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town. There’s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There’s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own). Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth... I am not a die-hard Charlaine Harris fan. I got bored of her Sookie books and read maybe one in her Aurora Teagarden series. I picked up midnight Crossroad because it sounded fun enough...

Audiobook Review: Ten Lords A-Leaping by C. C. Benison

Title: Ten Lords A-Leaping (Father Christmas Mystery #3) Author: C. C. Benison Read by: Steve West and Jean Gilpin Category: Mystery Audio published: December 3, 2013 by Random House Audio Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Add: Goodreads Purchase: Audible | Amazon | Book Depository Although Father Tom Christmas serves his little church in enchanting Thornford Regis with a glad and faithful heart, he never expects to find himself skydiving to raise money for it. Nor, safely back on the ground, to see two of the other divers leap from the plane, then tangle in a midair punch-up and begin falling to the earth. To say that there is tension between the men in question—Oliver, the 7th Marquess of Morborne, and his brother-in-law Hector, the 10th Earl of Fairhaven—would be an understatement. But the trouble among this ancient landed family really began a generation ago, when a marquess divorced his first spouse to marry his brother’s wife, fathering in his two marriages a viper’s nest of arrogant young aristocrats....

Z is for Zentangle

My daughter is the artist in our family. She's talented, and I'm not just saying that because I'm her mom. I, however, am not. But I've been learning Zentangle - "an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns." And it is fun and easy and quite pretty. Here are a couple of my recent tiles. I haven't had a lot of practice yet, but I think it's something I'll continue to do. I used watercolor pencils on the first tile before drawing the tangles. The second is more traditional. I think I like the simplicity and contrast in the first. There is a bunch of info on-line about Zentangle, and patterns and strings. I also picked up a book, One Zentangle a Day by Beckah Krahula. Y is for Your Own Adventure

Do you remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books? They were popular when I was a kid. They always featured some kind of adventure written in the second person and you got to make the choices as the story progressed, usually deciding between a couple of options at the end of each section and turning to the appropriate page to move on. Helena S. Paige has taken that idea and made it grow up in A Girl Walks into a Wedding: Your Fantasy, Your Rules. Title: A Girl Walks Into a Wedding: Your Fantasy, Your Rules Author: Helena S.
