Roaring Laughter

Today's Daily Post asks, "What was the last thing that gave you a real, authentic, tearful, hearty belly laugh? Why was it so funny?" My first thought was the other night at dinner when Amber got carried away by her water, but I didn't want to embarrass her too much, so instead it's picture time. We were laughing so hard as Amber took these the other night. We had gotten to the stadium early to get a seat, which is my idea and they usually complain. so, to waster time, Amber took pictures with my phone. After about a million photos of grass and pop cans, she started goofing around with the "cartoon" setting. It really was funny. Here are the best of the three of us cartoonized....

Six Impossible Things

Six Impossible Things

“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” – the White Queen, Alice in Wonderland. Six impossible things I believe: 1.  Dragons exist. And fairies. 2.  Cookies eaten at 2 am don't have calories. The same goes for chocolate. 3.  The Pirates will make it to the World Series again and win. 4.  Telepathy. "Your thoughts are just that loud." 5.  A wish made on the first star you see will come true. 6.  One day my husband will actually put his dirty clothes in the hamper. What impossible things do you believe?...

Lists for Summer

Image: WagerRun.com Summer is just around the bend, so I thought it would be a good time to list some things I want to do or to accomplish this summer. Maybe writing them down will actually provide a little extra motivation on some of the not so fun ones. A couple I already have plans in place, but most are still just kind of floating out there. Have Fun Play miniature golf Go canoeing Lay on the beach See a movie at the drive-in Go to Kennywood Go to a baseball game Host a cook-out Watch a softball game See a play at Brooke Hills . Accomplish Something (Yes, David, you have to help with some of them) Plant the garden and keep it weeded Work up to being able to jog three miles Read The Three Musketeers (I could put this under fun, too) Finish work on the kitchen Paint the dining room and living room Wash and clean out my car Put a couple more perennials in my front flower bed Write a short story Clean the house (bleck) . One more...

Five Things I Love To Do (but haven’t lately)

I enjoy doing a lot of things, but some of my favorite things I haven't done in over a year. Go on a real vacation Work on my scrapbooks See a movie by myself Sleep 'til after noon Take a cruise Okay, I've never actually been on a cruise, but I bet I'd love it. And we have a vacation planned for June. I actually do the things I love on a regular basis. I play the piano, read, take pictures, write, visit museums, zoos, amusement parks, go to baseball games, eat spaghetti, spend time with family and friends. We find time to do the things we enjoy. What about you? What's something you love to do that you haven't gotten to in the last year?...

From the nearest book

Here's a quick quote from the book nearest to me, random page, third paragraph, second sentence. It's not a book I'm actually reading right now, it's in a stack that I'm going to be mailing out this afternoon for Paperbackswap. "Ante up, ladies. Elfkynan siasters are worth twelve to the Imperial sovereign or four colonial mints, nickel-silver, that is, for you shady types that have a pocket full of copper." (pg. 331, A Darkness Forged in Fire by Chris Evans) Just a little tidbit that doesn't reveal much about the book itself. Based on that piece, I picture a group of maybe five men gathered around a table; one, the speaker, dealing out cards. Obviously, from the coins mentioned it takes place in a different world than ours, but I still picture a version of an Old West saloon. The place is kind of dirty, the men not exactly law-abiding citizens. They're not dressed in clean white shirts, or crisp suits. They're...
