Master (with a giveaway)

Master: An Erotic Novel of the Count of Monte Cristo by Colette Gale From the back: Edmond Dantès spent years imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Once free, he returns to Paris in the guise of the powerful Count of Monte Cristo, seeking vengeance on those who sent him to jail. But his plan also includes a different king of revenge—on the woman he has never forgotten, the lover he has made it his mission to possess. Mercédès Herrera Mondego was devastated when the man she loved disappeared. Now she is trapped in a loveless marriage, but her passions are reignited by Edmond's return.  She realizes soon enough that his plan to avenge himself on the men who incarcerated him also includes another sort of revenge—on her. From the seaside town of Marseille to the exotic caves of Monte Cristo Isle, an erotic battle of wills unfolds in the most electrifying game of love ever played between man and woman, between master...

Wondrous Words Wednesday

I know I'm a day late, but I did run  into one  new-to-me word this week. metanoia - a profound, usually spiritual, transformation; conversion “Jesus' "baptism,' begun in the Jordan and completed on Golgotha, is repentance, self-denial, metanoia to the fullest. John present his baptism as a washing from sin, a turning from self to God. Jesus seeks even more radical metanoia." -pg. 8, "Repent" by William Willimon in Bread and Wine: Readings for Lent and Easter Head over to Bermudaonion’s Weblog for some more wondrous words....

MBA in a Book

MBA in a Book:Fundamental Principles of Business, Sales, and Leadership edited by Leslie Pockell From the back: This volume contains essential advice about the fundamentals of business, sales, and leadership from some of history's most influential thinkers and doers: entrepreneurs, executives, scholars, statesmen, and philosophers. These often provocative quotations include invaluable insights on business practice and theory, investment, management, marketing, motivating, and more. Whether you require guidance on a particular subject, or feel the need for instant inspiration, MBA ina Book will be there for you, as you negotiate the winding road to success. My thoughts: I'm not sure what I expected when I opened this book, but this wasn't it. It basically is a collection of mostly short quotes, which is interesting, but, at least for me, not all that useful.  I will share a couple of the quotes from the book that really struck me, though. Avoid mushroom management (keeping your employees in the dark and covered in horseshit). -Anonymous One may smile, and smile,...

Musing Monday

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about new authors… What is your policy when it comes to new authors? Do you feel comfortable purchasing a book or do you prefer to borrow new authors from the library? How often do you 'try out' a new author? I don't really have a policy regarding "new" authors. Since I get most of my books from the library, I don't really have to worry about whether or not to spend the money on them. I try out new authors fairly often, usually after reading a review or because it's a read for one of the on-line book groups I'm in. For my daughter, however, I will buy pretty much whatever book she wants, whether it's from an author I've heard of or not. I think it's important for her to have her own library, and when I was younger I felt the need to own just about every book I read. See what others think at Just One More Page......
