Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about new authors…
What is your policy when it comes to new authors? Do you feel comfortable purchasing a book or do you prefer to borrow new authors from the library? How often do you ‘try out’ a new author?
I don’t really have a policy regarding “new” authors. Since I get most of my books from the library, I don’t really have to worry about whether or not to spend the money on them. I try out new authors fairly often, usually after reading a review or because it’s a read for one of the on-line book groups I’m in.
For my daughter, however, I will buy pretty much whatever book she wants, whether it’s from an author I’ve heard of or not. I think it’s important for her to have her own library, and when I was younger I felt the need to own just about every book I read.

I love reading new authors. In fact, 23 of the 27 books I’ve read so far this year are by authors I haven’t read before. I particularly like debut novels.
