#AMonthofFaves: A Year in Books Timeline

Today we’re talking about our year in books. A Month of Favorites is hosted by Girlxoxo, Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge. Link up at Girlxoxo.com today. I have not had the best reading year as far as the numbers go. I just don't seem to make enough time to sit down and read. Gee, sounds like a potential New Year's Resolution. But here's my "A Year in Books Timeline." I have to thank Andi for doing a timeline with readwritethink.org since I stole her idea. If you click on the timeline, it should get a little bigger, but if you don't want to bother, here's what it says: January - 7 books, but 3 were lousy. Today we're talking about new-to-you (and me) authors! A Month of Favorites is hosted by Girlxoxo, Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge. Today we're linking up with The Broke and the Bookish for Top Ten Tuesday! I've read several new-to-me authors this year, some of whom wrote books I absolutely adored. 1. Brian McClellan - I listened to the first two in his Powder Mage Trilogy, Promise of Blood and The Crimson Campaign and loved them. I'm looking forward to next year's The Autumn Repbulic. 2. Jo Nesbø - He writes great mysteries. I'm not sure why I hadn't read him before this year. 3. J. D. Horn - I read The Line back in January and gave it 5 stars. I think it helped get me back into reading some fantasy/paranormal books. 4. Jenn Bennett - I listened to the first two of her Roaring Twenties paranormal romances and really enjoyed them, even though they're not perfect. 5. Today's topic for A Month of Favorites is a book review or discussion, preferably about a book from from your fave genre or author. My favorite genre is mystery and I just happened to finish listening to The Dead Will Tell by Linda Castillo this past weekend. It's not my favorite series, but it has definitely improved over the years. This is #6 and I've read all except the novella. When I wrote my review of the first book, I said, " I’m hoping that this is one of those series that gets better as it goes. It definitely has promise and I’m glad I read this because we did get to know Kate and John quite well and got a good feel for the town dynamics."   I'm enjoying the Month of Favorites hosted by Girlxoxo, Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge so far. I have to thank Joy for making me notice the event with her 5 Fave Books on England post. Today's we are to pick a list (or general post) we loved from someone else this week. The link up is at Girlxoxo! I've enjoyed reading all the posts this week and visiting new blogs. Today, I'll mention two posts that I particularly enjoyed. I loved reading all of yesterday's post. It's so interesting to see how different people link books, how their though processes work . #AMonthofFaves: 6 Degrees of Separation

I've never done a 6 Degrees of Separation post, but it sounds like fun. We could start with any of our faves, but I'm going to go ahead and use Annabel's suggestion of The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan. I have not read it, but leaving the whole field of "favorites" just made it too hard to pick a starting point. Today's link-up is at Estella's Revenge until Annabel's link goes live on the 6th.       The main character in The Narrow Road spends time as a prisoner of war, as does Taniel in The Crimson Campaign, one of my favorites of the year. While Taniel is fighting on the front line, his father is journeying behind enemy lines, trying to get home. In A Long Way Home, Peter is also taking a journey, though of a different sort.
