I know I’m a day late, but I did run into one new-to-me word this week.
metanoia – a profound, usually spiritual, transformation; conversion
“Jesus’ “baptism,’ begun in the Jordan and completed on Golgotha, is repentance, self-denial, metanoia to the fullest. John present his baptism as a washing from sin, a turning from self to God. Jesus seeks even more radical metanoia.”

Metanoia is a new one to me. I’m trying to break it down into Latin parts (to decode and remember it), but it’s just not working for me … Maybe I’ll recognize it if I see it again
I love this word! I had no idea that the “noia” part (which is also found in paranoia) comes from “nous,” which means “mind.” I wonder if there are any other “noia” words out there…
