I have to admit that I am incredibly jealous of all those folks who are in New York this week attending BEA, but thankfully some wonderful people have set up the Armchair BEA, a fun virtual version that we can all attend. It’s all being coordinated over at Armchair BEA Central, and they are planning on having guest posts from bloggers, authors, publishers, and more. They will have vlogs from on-site correspondents and many surprise videos coming your way. There will be daily posts to contribute to and blogger interviews.
Today’s topic is: Who are you, and how do you Armchair?
My name, as you’ve probably guessed, is Carol, and my blog is mostly about books I’ve read. My reading tastes are fairly eclectic, but lately mysteries and romance seem to be grabbing my attention. I also tend to write about my family, things I’ve been doing, goals, projects, whatever I feel like rambling about really. I post photos and an occasional piece of flash fiction. I figure the nice thing about a notebook is that you can write whatever you want in it.
I feature a Friday’s Tale each week. I’m always amazed how much the original fairy tales, folktales, tall tales differ from the versions I know. Just last week, for example, I read The Frog King, and, believe it or not, the princess never actually kissed the frog.
In real life, I live in eastern Ohio with my husband and out 11-year-old daughter. When I’m not at work, I spend a lot of time playing games, taking the dog for walks, driving Amber around, and now that it’s summer watching David’s softball games. Our house is rarely clean, but we have a lot of fun.
I am so jealous too, i have made a mental note to visit america in May when i come over, haha
Speak is an amazing novel, Laurie expresses it well, it is a movie too, should add it to you read list,
Thanks for stopping by
the Book Mystress, xx
Thanks for sharing, Carol…I love the name “Amber.” It sounds like you have a nice, relaxed life.
Here’s MY ARMCHAIR BEA KICK-OFF POST
Relaxed or busy, I’m not sure.
I love your thoughts on writing whatever you want to in a notebook – that is so true. I hope that you have a great Armchair BEA!
Your last sentence made me laugh – I’ve been cleaning and trying to avoid cleaning all morning! Thanks for the visit/comment and have a super week!
I am also participating this year – great to see a blog I already know! Friday’s Tale is incredible on your blog!
Hi Carol, and thanks for saying hi on my blog. I am raising an almost-15 year old girl and almost-11 year old boy, so I have (almost) given up on the clean house myself. Have a great week!
I vow someday to go to BEA and the book blogger convention. I love meeting other bloggers!
I’ve actually never gotten to meet anyone in real life.
Me neither.
I am with you! I’m soooo jealous of those in New York this week. They are having all the fun and getting tons of amazing stuff. But, I’m stuck at home as well. 🙂
Cool! Sounds like you might not be so far from me. I live in South Western Pennsylvania. 🙂 And our kids are close in age. lol. Oh, well. Have a great time with Armchair BEA. 🙂
I made the decision not to attend and cancelled my hotel at the last minute-I must say there are moments when I wish I was there. Glad to see there are others wishing away also.
Hi, my friend! Glad to see you’re joining us this week. Hey, we’re not there, but at least we’re experiencing it vicariously!
Oh! You really should connect with my fellow organizer Tif from Tif Talks Books. She also features classic fairy tales and you both would probably love getting to know each other! So neat!
On behalf of the Armchair BEA organizers thanks so much for participating! We really are so happy to have you!
I’m having a good time with Armchair BEA and meeting the people behind the blogs… virtually anyway. Someday I’d like to attend the convention.
Me too. But it’ll probably be a few years.
Hi Carol! Thanks for stopping by Erin Reads! It seems there are a couple of us bloggers in the Pittsburgh-ish area. Maybe we can set something up with everyone? My family still lives in Ohio, so I end up driving that way often. Nice to “meet” you!
