I’m participating in WordPress.com’s Writing201: Poetry that runs this week and next. Each weekday, they are providing a post with a prompt, a form of poetry and a poetic device. Mind you, I’m not a poet, but I thought it would be fun to give it a try and maybe learn something in the process.
“Today, letβs write a poem about water. And/or a haiku. And/or use a simile.” Here are my attempts:
Alone Alone, frozen, like an icicle hanging from a neglected porch. Fishing The bass jumps, splashes just a foot from my bobber which floats lazily.
I enjoyed both of your haiku, but I especially appreciated your use of simile in “Alone”.
I really like the 2nd haiku. I went to fishing a few time and it always was like this.
It always happens to me. How do the fish know?
It’s probably implemented into their brains and handed down through aeon of being hunted π
Good ones π
