The Reverse Summer Readathon starts now! I love the 8pm – 8pm eastern set-up. I won’t be able to read the whole time. I’ll fall asleep sometime tomight and we are hosting a cookout tomorrow, but I should get some reading time in. I’m prepared: I’ve got my snacks, I’ve got my books, I’ve got food for meals and plenty of coffee and pop. Updates will be here at the blog, instagram (@carolsnotebook), or twitter (@carolsnotebook) or none of the above if I forget to post.
I’m in the middle of The Sentence is Death by Anthony Horowitz on audio and A Whisker in the Dark by Leighann Dobbs on my Kindle, so I’m starting with those. I have to take a break sometime this evening for a board game. One of our Facebook groups is having a #gameaday challenge for August.
Opening Survey:
- What fine part of the world are you reading from today? And what time is it where you are? I’m in Ohio. It’s now 9:30. I’m getting started about 1 1/2 late.
- Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? I don’t know. A Whisker in the Dark will be fun.
- Which snack are you most looking forward to? Tomorrow we’re having birthday cake. It’s not really a readathon snack – we’re having people over to celebrate my mom and brother’s birthdays, but I love birthday cake.
- Do you have a #reversereadathon plan of attack? Not really.
- Are you doing the readathon solo or with others? Solo
3:50 am update:
Finished one book, A Whisker in the Dark by Leighann Dobbs. I’m going to sleep for a while.
11:40 am:
Finished book #2: The Sentence Is Death by Anthony Horowitz. Started A Gentleman’s Murder by Christopher Huang.
2:00 pm:
My brother and his family and my mom are coming over soon for a cookout/birthday party, so I’m probably done reading for the day. I had fun though.
Closing survey:
- How would you assess your reading overall? Actually it wasn’t too bad. I knew the I wasn’t going to get much reading done this afternoon/evening.
- Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? I didn’t have a strategy.
- What was your favorite snack? Birthday cake from Gus’s Goodies. I mean it was party of the party, not the Readathon, but it was really yummy.
- Wanna volunteer for our next event? Maybe.
I’m getting a late start as well. I just did my post and thought I’d spend the next 15 minutes cheering people on so that I start on the hour, even if it’s 2 hours late. LOL
Oh boy birthday cake is the best!!!!
Happy birthday to Mom and Brother and Happy Reading to US!
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a great readathon!
Have fun!
I got a bit of a late start, but I (shhh! don’t tell!) actually started reading yesterday so I could get in some hours early. Birthday cake sounds like a great snack! Enjoy!
I’ve looked at a few Anthony Horowitz books and think I would enjoy them. Do you recommend the one you’re reading (listening to)? Thanks for stopping by and Happy Reading!
I’d go back and read The Word Is Murder, the first in the series. It will give you a better introduction to the characters than jumping right into The Sentence is Death.
Looks like you’re doing well so far…I had to sleep and then was off to a late start. Have finished one and a half books, including one of the better books I’ve read this year: Hunger by Roxane Gay.
Sounds like a lot of fun with the balance of birthday party and cake and books.
It sounds like you had a pretty good readathon! You can’t go wrong with cake!
I totally agree. Amber and I have been known to buy a full-fledged cake “just because” on occasion.
