The air is thick with excitement and anxiety as Sûreté du Québec agents gather in the conference room for the Monday morning meeting of the homicide department.
This will be Armand Gamache’s first day back since his demotion from head of the entire force, to head of homicide. Complicating matters, he’ll be sharing the duties with his former second-in-command, Jean-Guy Beauvoir.
Amid blistering social media attacks, Gamache sets out on his first assignment – to find a missing woman.
The search for Vivienne Godin is played out against a backdrop of catastrophic spring flooding. Three Pines itself is threatened, as the Rivière Bella Bella breaks its banks. A province-wide emergency is declared and desperate efforts are underway to save towns and cities, dams and bridges.
As Gamache leads the search for Vivienne, he develops a profound empathy for her distraught father. With a daughter of his own, he finds himself haunted by the question, how would you feel, if…
As the rivers rise, and the social media onslaught becomes crueler, a body is discovered. And the victim’s father contemplates a murder of his own.
And the question facing both Gamache and Beauvoir shifts.
What would you do, if… your child’s killer might walk free?
And I picked up a Kindle freebie, Uncanny Collateral.

Alek Fitz is a reaper, a collection agent who works for the supernatural elements of the world, tracking down debtors and solving problems for clients as diverse as the Lords of Hell, vampires, Haitian loa, and goblins. He’s even worked for the Tooth Fairy on occasion. Based out of Cleveland, Ohio, Alek is the best in the game. As a literal slave to his job, he doesn’t have a choice.
When Death comes looking for someone to track down a thief, Alek is flung into a mess of vengeful undead, supernatural bureaucracy, and a fledgling imp war. As the consequences of failure become dire, he has few leads, and the clock is ticking. Only with the help of his friend Maggie—an ancient djinn with a complex past—can he hope to recover the stolen property, save the world, and just maybe wring a favor out of the Great Constant himself.
It’s a hell of a job, but somebody’s got to do it . . .
I like your new look!
Enjoy your books…I love Louise Penny, and now I must continue with the series. I stalled on the third book.
Have a great week.
Thanks!
I enjoy her series, but some are better than others in my opinion.
Everyone loves Penny’s books!
I enjoy them, although sometimes I wish she would stay with the smaller mysteries and not make them about things like taking down drug lords.
LOVE how you have different headers. Looks great!!
ENJOY your books,
I haven’t read Louise Penny’s newest.
Thanks! I think I’m happy with how it looks too.
I actually started Penny’s book the other day. So far, I’m enjoying it.
I can’t believe this is book 15 of Inspector Gamache! I really have some catching up to do. Enjoy your new books, happy reading!
Yeah, it’s getting rather long at this point. Happily I’ve kept up.
OMG, YES, A Better Man is fantastic. My review was featured on Criminal Element: https://www.criminalelement.com/author/emma-cazabonne/
I got a few books: https://wordsandpeace.com/2019/10/07/mailbox-monday-october-7-2019/
I’ll have to go read your review. I love some of Penny’s books but when there’s much politics or the issues are too big they’re not as great to me.
I have been wanting to read the Louise Penny series for a long time. It sounds like a good series of books. Enjoy!
The problem of course is that it’s now at 15 books and they really are so much better if read in order.
Penny is an author I like too. Making a note of this one
So far I’m enjoying it.
Both of these sound great. Hope you enjoy them.
They’re both authors I’ve read before, so I think I will.
I don’t think I have read Penny although it seems many people like her. I like the look of the Urban Fantasy.
Happy Reading!
I enjoy Penny’s books; it’s one of the few series both my mom and i read.
