It’s Halloween, and the Daniels have been invited to attend a costume ball at one of the posh hotels in downtown London. Jane goes as Shaggy to Kennedy’s Scooby-Doo. The party is in full swing when Scooby-Doo is killed by a sniper bullet. Fortunately, the killer shot another Scooby-Doo — a judge with the reputation of being hard on gang members. However, Jane fears the bullet may have been intended for Kennedy.

Two days later, when someone tries to knife Kennedy in the Underground, Trudy's proven right. What's more, Kennedy knows the perp. Devon Maldin suffers from PTSD from his time in Afghanistan. They met in an online chat group.

Why would Devon want to do away with his online pal?

This is a short read at only 50 pages, so not much time to develop the characters or plot. Jane and Kennedy attend a fancy Halloween party and someone wearing a similar costume to Kennedy is killed. Kennedy is later attacked and realizes who the culprit is.

My main complaint is that I wanted it to be longer. I wanted to get to know Jane and Kennedy better and have an actual mystery rather than Kennedy just recognizing them. Also, while it was set in London, its language is very American.
