The Classics Club is 10 years old. Although I haven't participated for that long, I do love the time I've been a member. To celebrate our 10 years of blogging about Classics, the moderators have asked some questions, so here are my responses. I skipped a couple. When did you join the Classics Club? March 2018. What is the best classic book you’ve read for the club so far? Why? This is almost impossible to answer. I've found I enjoy most classics, at least to some extent. Maybe Miss Buncle’s Book by D.E. Stevenson because it was such a delightful surprise.What is the first classic you ever read? The first I ever read? I have no idea. I read a lot as a child and teenager and I'm sure some classics were included.Which classic book inspired you the most? Maybe The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim. Miss Buncle's Book by D. E. Stevenson Barbara Buncle is in a bind. Times are harsh, and Barbara's bank account has seen better days. Stumped for ideas, Barbara draws inspiration from fellow residents of her quaint English village, writing a revealing novel that features the townsfolk as characters. The smashing bestseller is published under the pseudonym John Smith, which is a good thing because villagers recognize the truth. But what really turns her world around is when events in real life start mimicking events in the book. Funny, charming, and insightful, this novel reveals what happens when people see themselves through someone else's eyes. The Classic Club Spin landed on #19, which means I'll be reading Miss Buncle's Book by D. E. Stevenson. To be honest, I'm not quite sure how this classic made it onto my list. I've never read anything by Stevenson and don't remember anyone raving about it. I imagine it's on there as a break from...
