What were you doing that year?

What were you doing that year?

Dig through your couch cushions, your purse, or the floor of your car and look at the year printed on the first coin you find. What were you doing that year? Digging through my purse, all the way to the bottom where the crumbs settle, not just checking the zippered coin part of my wallet (as if my change ever ends up there anyway), the first coin I found was a nickel from 2011. I can actually remember easily what I was doing in 2011, since it's pretty much what I'm doing now. Loving my family, going to church, working, reading. There were a couple of semi-notable evenst. We went on vacation to the Outer Banks that year, which was a nice, relaxing week. I got to see some of the filming for the Batman movie they were doing in Pittsburgh. That's about it. The second coin I found, by the way was from 1993, which is the year I graduated from high...

I was tagged

Raine at Passages of the Pen tagged me to play along . She asked some good questions. Q1: What song aptly fits your current read? Something Scottish. I don't really know any Scottish bands, but a quick google search brought up Battlefield Band. Q2: Which book couple from your 2011 reads is your favorite and would like to see again and why? Mick and Casey McKee from Have Gun, Will Play by Camille LaGuire. They also appear in some of her short stories. They are a young married couple, gunslingers in the Old West, who get involved in mysteries on a semi-regular basis. He's a softy at heart, a good guy who adores his wife. She's a tough girl, the better gunman of the two, but she needs Mick more than she's willing to admit. They are just such a unique couple and I was drawn to them immediately. Q3: I recently discovered the Steampunk genre, what book will you recommend for me to check...

What Octavia Spencer and I Have in Common

So, you're probably wondering what Octavia Spencer and I do have in common, right? And Morgan Freeman and Tina Fey, too. Chocolate. David brought home a few chocolates from work yesterday for Amber and me - two each. And they were delicious. I don't know what flavors Amber had, but I had a vanilla cupcake one and a peanut butter and jelly one. They were rich, decadent, melt-in-your mouth goodness. And simply gorgeous to look at.  Definitely candy for grown-ups. So I had to do a little research today. Turns out they were from Norman Love Confections. And guess what was in some of the gift bags given out at the Academy Awards- boxes of  Norman Love chocolates. Granted, they are far from cheap, but for a special occasion a box of these would be heavenly. And if I ever happen to be in Fort Meyers, Florida, you can bet the Chocolate Salon will be on my list of places to visit....

Saturday 9: Turn Back the Hands of Time

I'm doing the Saturday: 9 again this week. Every Saturday, 9 questions are posted. Sometimes the post has a theme, and at other times the questions are totally unrelated. Saturday 9: Turn Back the Hands of Time 1. There's a Time Genie. She can put you back in time to relive a day that you loved. If you could turn back the hands of time, what day would you relive if given this opportunity? I think I would pick my wedding day. It's was a wonderful day, and I'd love go back and enjoy it all again. 2. What did you do yesterday? Let's see. Yesterday was Black Friday, and yes I went shopping, but not until afternoon. Got a couple of birthday presents exchanges and bought a couple of things for my husband for Christmas. Then a couple of friends came over to watch hockey and play boardgames. 3. You've been given 3 parachutes, but there are 4 people who need them. Who will you not...
