Spring into Horror Readathon 2017

The Spring into Horror Readathon begins today. From Seasons of Reading: Remember, it's two weeks now...and at the tale end (the finale weekend) will also be Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon! Official dates are April 17 through 30, starting at 12am CDT Monday and ending at 11:59pm CDT on Sunday the 30th. Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the menu at the top of the blog. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. The hashtag for checking in on social media is #SpringHorror.  You can also check-in and chat at our Facebook group (also can be accessed in the blog menu). Just remember...the one main "rule" of Spring Into Horror is that you must read ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). The rest of the week...anything goes! Read more horror, or go in for less heart jolting fare. 😀 I'm not much...

Wrap-up – Winter’s Respite Readathon 2017

A Winter's Respite Readathon ended yesterday. From Seasons of Reading: Dates are January 16 - 29, starting at 12:00am Monday the 16th, and ending at 11:59pm on Sunday the 29th. Times are central standard time so adjust your times accordingly. Yes, the readathon is now two weeks long! I, for one, am pretty excited about that! Of course, like most readathons, the books read must be novels or novellas, adult or young adult are fine, and you can read children's books too (as long as you do read some novels too). Note: Non-Fiction is also okay! You DO NOT have to participate the entire two weeks. Join in when you can, start in the middle, end early...whatever works best for your schedule. As with all of my readathons, it will be a time for relaxed reading during which we can personally challenge ourselves and whittle away our ever looming TBR piles/shelves/libraries.   Totals Pages read: 364 Time Listened: 16 hrs 11 mins Books finished: Love Does by Bob Goff The...

A Winter’s Respite Readathon 2017

A Winter's Respite Readathon begins today. The first couple weeks of this year have been busy and a little stressful. I'm glad I can take the next two weeks to relax a bit and hopefully curl up on the couch and read. From Seasons of Reading: Dates are January 16 - 29, starting at 12:00am Monday the 16th, and ending at 11:59pm on Sunday the 29th. Times are central standard time so adjust your times accordingly. 24-Hour Readathon

Today is the 24-hr Readathon. I'm participating because I love it, but I'm not going to be able to read all 24 hours. We have a band show to go to this afternoon, and I can never make it past like 2 in the morning. I'm planning on doing most of my updates through the day on Twitter: @carolsnotebook and maybe Instagram: @carolsnotebook. Tomorrow I'll probably update this post with a final wrap-up. Anyone else reading today? Update: I didn't get as much reading in as I would have liked, in part because I went to bed way too late Friday. I did finish Arsene Lupin, the Gentleman Burglar by Maurice Leblanc and read about 70% of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Brash Blonde by Gemma Halliday. I also listened to about 45 minutes of Bangkok Tattoo by John Burdett....

I got a lot of reading (and listening) done. I think participating in a read-a-thon tends to make me use my extra time reading instead of goofing around on-line. Books/Stories finished: Good Morning, Superman! by Michael Dahl The Rook by Daniel O'Malley "The Musgrave Ritual" by Sir Arthur...
