Guest post – Teresa Jones, author of Return to Your First Love

I want to thank Theresa Jones for taking a page in my notebook today to share some thoughts on marriage. Too Old to Get Married? The aforementioned question hardly ever bothers men.  But when women turn 30, and there is no ring to adorn their left hand, some become a little uneasy.  When the biological clock starts ticking and viable prospects start to dwindle, the question of whether or not it will ever happen begins to loom in the mind of some and send them into panic mode.  At the risk of sounding old fashioned, I am going to go against the status quo and suggest that they should be concerned.  I don’t say this because I think that marriage doesn’t occur after age 30.  I just believe that society, as a whole, needs to reassess the “right time” to get married. With every generation, comes an adjustment in beliefs and values.  This all so true with marriage, but have the generational shifts...

F is for Fragment and a BBAW Giveaway

Vicki of Reading At The Beach hosts A-Z Wednesday. Today's letter is F. This one is straight off my shelf, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. At the end of the post, I'll be giving you a chance to win the ARC, if this one interests you. Fragment by Warren Fahy In this powerhouse of suspense, scientists have made a startling discovery: a fragment of a lost continent, an island with an ecosystem unlike any they’ve seen before . . . an ecosystem that could topple ours like a house of cards. The time is now. The place is the Trident, a long-range research vessel hired by the reality TV show Sealife. Aboard is a cast of ambitious young scientists. With a director dying for drama, tiny Henders Island might be just what the show needs. Until the first scientist sets foot on Henders—and the ultimate test of survival begins . . . For when they reach the island’s shores, scientists are...

Guest Post- J. R. Hauptman, author of The Target

Thanks to J. R. Hauptman for taking a page in my notebook today to tell us a little about the joys of Florida.   Kickin’ Back in Florida  --Guest Blogger J.R. Hauptman, author of THE TARGET   In the Pike’s Peak region of Colorado, we don’t often suffer the “Dog Days” of August.  Almost every year, about the tenth day of that month we seem to have a major shift of the weather pattern.  It came this year on a day that seemed warm but far above the divide, we could see the high cirrus clouds revealing the jet stream winds that would soon carry the arctic air of Fall and Winter. Autumn slips up on us here in the Rockies.  The last three weeks of August flash by in a blur and the next you know, it’s the week after Labor Day and only three more weeks to the equinox.  Now is the time for football, the World Series, hunting season and the brilliant beauty of...

Mailbox Monday

Thanks to Marcia at The Printed Page for hosting Mailbox Monday. Here's what I found in my box this week.     So Into You by Sandra Hill I won this at Socrates' Book Reviews. Thanks! Reeling from the rejection, Angel hightails it out of town. Now Grace is left to wonder if her problems from the past are keeping her from opening herself to love. But she brushes these "useless" musings aside, concentrating instead on the work she's doing as an apprentice to folk healer Tante Lulu and keeping up with the old woman's good deeds. Such as starting a foundation to help families still homeless after Hurricane Katrina. One family consists of 5 children who lost their parents. The eldest, only seventeen, has been struggling to take care of her siblings and lying...
