First of all, I want to thank Tif at Tif Talks Books for passing this fabulous award on to me a couple of weeks ago. Isn’t it adorable?

This past week I posted three book reviews. I loved The Miracle Worker by William Gibson and, after reading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, totally understand why Amber (10) calls the Percy Jackson series one of her favorites. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed by Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout, though.

I also have a couple of giveaways still going on, both are for audiobooks. I have three copies of The War Lovers by Evans Thomas and three of Eat the Cookie…Buy the Shoes by Joyce Meyer.

I was pretty lousy about keeping my camera with me this past week. In addition to our usual game night, we did a couple of fun things, but have no pictures to show. On Saturday, my Mom, Amber and I went up to “Amish land,” Walnut Creek and Berlin, Ohio. Shopping and way too much good food, can’t beat it. I think it’s the only place I’ve ever seen oatmeal pie, which I love.

Then on Sunday, David, Amber and I went fishing with his brother and a friend of ours. It was hot and we didn’t get any bites, let alone catch any fish. Oh, well, there’s still a lot of summer ahead.

The only picture I have to share is from an experiment we did with Amber’s Sunday School Class. We were subbing, since her usual teacher was out of town. The idea behind it was that the Holy Spirit should affect all aspects of our lives. The plates were filled with milk, then the kids added drops of food coloring. When they touched the milk with a cotton swab dipped in Dawn, the colors exploded across the plate. It was really cool!

It doesn’t look like anything major’s on the calendar for this coming week. David’s playing in his second softball game on Tuesday. It’s a church league, but their team won their first game, 30-14, give or take. Maybe a movie or something later in the week. And I have some more planting to do in the flower beds.

I did receive a few books in the mail this past week. Hopefully, I’ll get around to reading them soon.

What’s up for you this week? Anything fun planned?

I know a lot of people are going to BEA and the Book Blogger Convention. I can’t wait to hear all about it. Wish I could be there.
