I turn 40 this year. On the one hand, it’s not a big deal, on the other it’s a little hard to believe.
I thought I’d take a quick look back to ’74 and then to the year I graduated high school, 1993.

I forgot about Brandon Lee.
River Phoenix died that year too, but drugs in Hollywood aren’t quite as surprising.
I was in high school in 1974. If only I’d bought a house then! lol
It’s fun to look back and see what was happening in the world at significant times in our own lives.

Yeah, I almost did the year we were married, too but it seemed like that would get to be too long a post.
I remember 1974 well. My boyfriend and I went to the drive in with my brother and his girlfriend to see The Exorcist. I loved all those tv shows in 1974. My favorite was Hawaii 5-0, and I’m loving the remake too!
I watched all those shows in 1993, but my favorite was Grace Under Fire. (I liked, and still do, 60 Minutes).
We watch the remake of Hawaii 5-0 sometimes too.
Wow it is so interesting to see how time changes things including trends and what is popular!

Yes times have sure changed
I loved your list. I am older than you are–it is so cool to see that we shared some of the same things!
I especially love your ’93 recap! I was 22 then. Good times. 🙂
What a totally cool way to mark this birthday!
I totally identify with the ’93 recap. I graduated high school in ’96. Not too far behind you. Some of those songs just make me shake my head, wondering what kind of music sense we had then. Elle @ Erratic Project Junkie
I crossed forty a while ago but your post brought back some lovely memories, specially the 1993 music. Thanks for this trip back in time!
Ah, yes, Whoomp There It Is. Reminds me of dancing in the club. Dancing poorly but dancing nonetheless. Now? I’d hurt myself 🙂
I was never much for dancing – even then.
Great post. I enjoy travelling back to the year I would have been six.
I used to love MASH and Hawaii 5-0. Though I am absolutely in love with the 5-0 remake! Have a great 40th 🙂
Celebrate 40 🙂 It’s not so bad but I will say that time seems to go faster once you hit the magic number.
I find turning older doesn’t really register. It’s when my younger siblings turn big ages that really freaks me out. How can they be catching me up, I keep thinking…
It’s amazing how time can change. I always enjoy looks back like this (even if I wasn’t alive yet). Crazy the jump in home prices. Goodness!
Happy A to Z-ing!
