It’s a new year with new books and new adventures.
Week’s Highlight:
We went to see Hamilton in Pittsburgh yesterday. It was fabulous! My mom got us the tickets for Christmas.
Celebrating:
Monday was New Year’s Eve and we had some friends over to our house for board games and food. It was fun, if unexciting. We got two new board games for Christmas, Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig and Spirit Island. They’re both fun and neither are too heavy.
Reading:
My first print book of the year is The Three Musketeers. My copy has 704 pages; I’m currently on page 102. So far I’m enjoying it. I also want to join in with Silvia Cachia’s read-a-long of Don Quixote, another long classic, but at 7 chapters a week I think I can keep up. My first audio is The Kingdom of the Blind by Louise Penny.
Fitness:
One of my unstated goals for 2019 is getting back to running. I’ve been on the treadmill at the gym three times this week, for a total of 5.8 miles of walking/jogging/running. I also did weights one day.
Looking forward to:
Amber’s birthday is this coming week. Other than that, it should be a pretty normal week.
I hope you can keep your resolutions. Those are hefty reads.
Yeah, they are long, which is my concern.
You are off to a great start! Especially with Hamilton. And even if you slip with running you can get back up again!
Yeah, so far it’s a good year. If I skip too many days of running it’s hard for me to get back on track.
That’s always the case! But maybe you won’t skip?
Everyone loves Hamilton – I will see it one of these days. Our son loves board games but didn’t get any for Christmas – he has a couple unopened ones already. Happy birthday Amber!
We have a couple of unopened ones on our shelves too.
What a great gift!! We hung out with friends on NYE until Gage said he was tired and wanted to go home and sleep. It was 10:07, lol.
10:07’s pretty good for a kid Gage’s age. Amber went to a friend’s house, but they lost power due to wind, so she came back sooner than expected.
I love making resolutions. One of the resolutions I made is to read more classics. One that I am reading is Don Quixote, too.
I started reading more classics last year, and I’m definitely glad I did. I’ve enjoyed most of them.
Didn’t realize Hamilton was in Pittsburgh . Might have tried to get tickets if had known for me and my wife. We’re about four hours away, in Central Pennsylvania … I tried Don Quixote last year. Didn’t make it through. But good luck to you.
We’re about an hour away from downtown Pittsburgh the other way – eastern Ohio. So far I’m keeping up with Don Quixote
