It snowed yesterday. I’m really not a fan of winter.
Week’s Highlight:
I’m not sure if it’s exactly a highlight, but David started taking down the wall between on our dining and living rooms. We had an arch there, but we’re replacing it with antique pocket doors we salvaged from a house that was being torn down.
Celebrating:
Amber’s 19th birthday was Friday, so we went out to eat at a restaurant of her choice. She went with a local Italian place – yum!
Reading:
I’m already one book behind on my Goodreads goal, but I did post my reivew of Kingdom of the Blind by Louise Penny the other day. You can find it here.
I’m on page 289 of The Three Musketeers. My copy has 704 pages, but it’s flying by. It’s pretty close to what I was expecting. I’m reading about a chapter a day of Don Quixote, which should keep me on track with Silvia Cachia’s read-a-long. I’m not in love with it yet.
I’ve been listening to Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. It was the first in my “recommended for you” list on Audible, and so far it’s really interesting.
Playing:
We played several board games this week: Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig, Temporum, and Ascension: Delirium. We also played Lords of Waterdeep for the first time. It’s fun and relatively easy to learn.
Fitness:
I did yoga twice this week. I didn’t get any running in. 🙁
Looking forward to:
This coming week is all about Solo and Ensemble. I’m accompanying seven kids this year. We have practice after work on Tuesday and Friday and then the actual event is all day Saturday. Usually we stop off in Amish country for dinner on the way home though, which is always delicious!
Next Sunday, we’re going to see Cirque du Soleil Corteo with a friend of David’s from work. It should be fun. We haven’t seen a Cirque du Soleil show since Amber was little.
You’re brave to take on a big project like that!
Happy birthday to Amber!
I’m sure Cirque de Soleil will be fabulous. We saw it years ago and loved it.
David’s doing most (all) of the work on the project, I just have to deal with dust. And the doors are gorgeous!
I love Cirque! That wall taking down is a huge project…do you want more open space? Is it hard to believe you are the mom of a 19 year old?
We’re actually replacing the arch with pocket doors, but to do that, David has to reframe the whole wall with space for the door between the two sides. And he needs to add a large header to mount the track on.
It sounds incredibly complicated.
Very busy week. Enjoy your time.
All our weeks seem to be busy lately.
Happy belated birthday to Amber! I can’t wait to see photos of the finished project. Have fun at Cirque de Soleil.
It’ll probably be a month of two before it’s finished, since he has to do most of the work on the weekends.
Good luck with the project!
Nice job with the classics!!
