We had lunch today with David’s parents and grandmother and dinner at my mom’s house. Everybody wants to see Amber while she’s home.
Week’s Highlights:
Amber’s home for the week. Scrappy actually knows when we’re close to get dorm now.
Something I’m Loving:
Maple Holistics sent me a bottle of their Silk18 Conditioner to try. I am always looking for a good conditioner. My hair is frizzy and uncombable without one. I have to say, I’m really happy with it. It’s creamy and really does work. My hair is soft and even though I need a cut, I’m not pulling it back in a ponytail every day – a definite good sign. It’s also silicone and paraben free. If you’ve ever wondered why that matters, check out this blog post: Damaged Hair Explained.
Reading:
So, I finally set aside Don Quixote. I just wasn’t enjoying it enough to put off reading other books. I was over halfway through, so it made me a little sad to give up on it. What’s the line for you, when do you give up and when do you keep pushing through to the end of a book that you’re just not liking?
Posts from this week:
- Cherringham, Episodes #10-12 by Matthew Costello and Neil Richards
- Murder on Pointe by C. S. McDonald
Watching:
Of course, we’re watching Survivor. We also started watching American Gods. So far, David and I are both enjoying it. I read the book, but that was years ago. I do feel the need to look up the various gods after the episodes. So, obviously we’re still back at the beginning of Season 1, but here’s the trailer for Season 2.
Playing:
We played Terraforming Mars again. It’s just a really good game. I’m looking it more each time we play. And Roll for the Galaxy, which is fun, especially if you like dice.
Looking forward to:
I think we’re going to go see Captain Marvel this week, since none of us have seen it yet.
Enjoy all your reads and have a good week.
Thanks! I’m sure I will.
Enjoy your time with Amber! Our dog was always over the moon when our son was home from school and I think he was happiest to see her too.
And he’s thrilled to have someone home with him during the day.
I’m sad to hear that you set aside Don Quixote. I strongly remember reading it in high school and loving it. Yet it seems evident that it must have been an abridged copy. I have to conclude that abridging a book is not always a bad thing. I am forging on with DQ. I will finish it this week. I’m not sure that an outside expert, were he studying my brain waves while I read, would be able to confirm that I have read every word; I’m pretty sure I’m doing a lot of skimming.
My friend and her son went to see Marvel this week, and here was my surprise: I was completely shocked to realize that Captain Marvel is female! How did I miss that?
I hope you have a great week!
I really wanted to finish, but it just seemed like too much struggling. Maybe one day I’ll try again – or pick up an abridged copy (but maybe that’s cheating as an adult?)
P.S. I just saw Pauses for Lent and felt compelled to look it up on Amazon. What an ideal book for this time of the year. Add.
I am checking out American Gods…it’s new to me! Sweet Scrappy misses Amber! Have a great week! Your board games always look so interesting and complicated!
It’s always nice to find a show that David and I can agree on.
Totally. Den and I have very different tastes in TV!
You made it through a lot more of Don Quixote than I did. I think I gave in at about the 20% mark. Maybe I’ll try it again in the future. Have a great week!
I probably should have given up on it earlier too, but I had hopes of being able to struggle through.
