Wedding bells are ringing In the picturesque village of Bunburry with the community coming together in joyful celebration. But the festive atmosphere takes a dark turn when the home of Rakesh Choudhury, the respected owner of Bunburry's popular Indian restaurant, is viciously attacked. As whispers of racism ripple through the tight-knit community, tensions rise. Who could have committed such a heinous act? Is the attack a targeted hate crime, or is something more sinister at play? There is an official police investigation, but amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister believes there are other jealousies and hidden grudges at play. Is he the only one who can uncover the truth?

I really enjoy these short mysteries. This time around, Dorothy and the former Sargent Wilson are getting married. I have to say I like what the Sarge’s recent health scare and relationship with Dorothy have done for his character. Everyone in town is at the reception, but that same evening, someone tries to set the Choudhury house on fire. Thankfully little damage is done, but the police, and Bunburry Triangle, are anxious to find the culprit.

This is a fun, quick read. I love the characters, each of whom is just quirky enough without going over the edge into annoying. There are several suspects and it’s good to see how many people care about the Choudhury family. I liked the yoga center and how it brings together people you wouldn’t expect. I was happy Oscar had a part to play this time around too.

I love the series and ice been binge listening.
My only complaint is that the narrator, although generally excellent , makes most of the young women sound abrupt and downright rude. When I think about the words they say without the rapid clipped tone there could be so much more than their being impatient, angry, sarcastic or irritable. I’m talking about Vivian, Betty, and Emma. Based on the tone I would suggest he not pursue any of them.

So when I listen I have to modify his tone in my mind—not always easy. And I still really like the series.
