24-Hour Readathon – Mid-event Survey

It's halfway through the readathon and I'm finally home and reading. We spent most of the day driving across Pennsylvania - and it's a long state. We also stopped at the Flight 93 Memorial, which I'm glad we finally got to visit. Mid-Event Survey: 1. What are you reading right now? Bones to Pick by Linda Lovely 2. How many books have you read so far? 1 (and it may have been a children's book) 3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Hoping to get around to Righteous by Joe Ide, but it really depends how the next couple hours go. 4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? I think I already explained my main interruption. 5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? Nothing really. It did take about 2 hours longer to get home than I though it would. Apparently we drive slower and take more stops on...

It’s time for the 24 -Hour Readathon!

It's Read-a-thon time! It's Read-a-thon time! I actually don't get to start reading until late this afternoon or early evening. We're driving home from a wedding today and my husband is not one to listen to audiobooks in the car (or at all). Since it's just the two of us, I also can't sit in the backseat and read. In the meantime, a bit about me: 1 What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I'm in eastern Ohio. 2 Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Righteous by Joe Ide because I loved IQ and The Long Haul by Finn Murphy because my brother recommended it. 3 Which snack are you most looking forward to? Cinnamon rolls with ice cream, pizza. Hmmm, I hope there's something healthy in the fridge too. 4 Tell us a little something about yourself! I read mostly mysteries, with the occasional romance or fantasy. I have a daughter who is spending the night...

#FrightFall Readathon

The FrightFall Readathon started yesterday and lasts all month this time around. From Seasons of Reading: Just remember...the one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read at least ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). Since we are doing a month long, I hope you will indulge the scary a bit more, but that is entirely up to you. It is all about the reading after all. Our social media hashtag is #FrightFall and we have our outstanding Facebook group which has become quite the reading community. I think I'm just going to keep track of the books I've read on this post. I may also post updates on Twitter or Instagram. Books Finished: Oct 6: Death at Breakfast by Beth Gutcheon Oct 8: Slade House by David Mitchell Scared to Death by Matthew Costello and Neil Richards Oct 14: The Case of the Cursed Dodo by Jake G. Panda Oct 21: Bones to Pick by Linda Lovely Oct 23: Meddling...

#FrightFall Readathon

The FrightFall Readathon begins October 1 and lasts for a month this time around. I always love Michelle's Readathons, so of course I'm participating, even if most of my reads will not be necessarily as frightening as other folks'. From Seasons of Reading: Just remember...the one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read at least ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). Our social media hashtag is #FrightFall and we have our outstanding Facebook group which has become quite the reading community. I am definitely one of the faint of heart. My "scary read" this time around will probably be Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. Other possible reads: The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins Slade House by David Mitchel The Shimmering Road by...
