Fitness Tuesday #13

Here's my plan, more or less. (SS stands for strength training/stretching; CT stands for cross-training) This past week was supposed to be week 11. Tuesday I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym. I really prefer running outside, but it was cold and rainy, and it's getting dark so early. Then I did 20 minutes on the ab machines. I know that good, old-fashioned crunches and planks are probably better, but the machines are kinda fun. Wednesday I did 30 minutes of weights and crunches in our basement. And then I did nothing over the weekend. Well, I did lots of stuff, just nothing that really fits in with this post. Monday I took the dog for a mile walk during my lunch. So I ran once all week - not so good. The problem really is scheduling, between work, Amber's activities and making sure she doesn't need help with homework, dishes, laundry, etc., I just don't have enough time. Fitness Tuesday #12

Here's my plan, more or less. (SS stands for strength training/stretching; CT stands for cross-training) Since last check-in, I've been a bit of a failure, but I'm going to move on to Week 11 anyway. Tuesday I took the dog for a mile walk in the afternoon and in the evening I ran four miles at a pace of 10:46 min/mile. I was going to do a little stretching and dumbbells in bed - not a good idea. When my husband came in I was asleep with the dumbbells lying on my stomach. Oh well. Wednesday I ran out of time, but I did do 30-min of the machines at the gym on Thursday, all arms. I was going to back in the evening to do 60 mins of CT, but I ended up walking with my friend in the evening instead. Fitness Tuesday #11

Here's my plan, more or less. (SS stands for strength training/stretching; CT stands for cross-training) Since last check-in, I finished Week 9. Tuesday I ran four miles at a pace of 11:18 min/mile. Then, I did the workout from Self that uses a 10-lb weight plate. I also took the dog for about a ½mile walk. He's likes this cooler weather much better than the hot summer temps. Wednesday I skipped, but made up for it Thursday. I went out to the gym. First I did 30 mins of the weight machines, mostly arms, then I did 50 minutes on the elliptical. I know, it was supposed to be 60 minutes, but I was feeling close on time. I ran out of time Friday, and Sunday we went fishing, but I did my six mile run on Monday. My pace was 11:28 min/mile. I'm a bit sad. I went to finally register for the race I want to run in November and it's sold out. :( I didn't...

Fitness Tuesday

Here's my plan, more or less. (SS stands for strength training/stretching; CT stands for cross-training) Since last check-in, I finished Week 8 again. Tuesday  I ran four miles at a pace of 11:25 min/mile. Then, I did a workout from Self that uses a 10-lb weight plate. I also took the dog for a mile walk. He's likes this cooler weather much better than the hot summer temps. I forget what I did on Wednesday. I think I did some dumb bell exercise and some crunches. Thursday I did 60 minutes on the recumbent bike and Friday I ran 2.8 miles at a rate of 9:46 min/mile. I didn't run on Sunday because I ran out of time. Fitness Tuesday #9

Here's my plan, more or less. (SS stands for strength training/stretching; CT stands for cross-training) Since last check-in, I finished Week 8 and am repeating it. I got a cold toward the end of the week and just didn't feel up to doing a lot of running. I've got a couple of weeks leeway in my schedule, so I figured repeating it won't matter. I'm also changing my schedule a bit. I moved everything over a day, so now my "training week" starts on Tuesday instead of Monday. It'll be easier to stick with it that way now that fall activities and school are back in. Now the actual week of that last race, I'll probably go back to the original because I'll want two rest days before the run. Fitness Tuesday

Here's my plan, more or less. (SS stands for strength training/stretching; CT stands for cross-training) Since last check-in, I finished Week 7 and am starting Week 8. If you read my last week's update, I got thrown a bit off schedule. Tuesday, my plan was to do the 3.5 mile run from Monday and then do the 20-mm SS. I didn't do so well. I decided to run outside, which was the wrong choice, I think. It was hot and muggy and my run was pretty miserable and involved more walking than I'd like to admit. My pace ended up being 12:52 min/mile. After dinner, we went out to he mall to get Amber a new phone which took way too long, of course, and I ended up helping her with homework until like 10:00 pm.
