Tuesday Intro

Next month is A-Z April, which means I'm trying to think ahead a little.  The next week or two may be a little short on posts as I gear up for it. Having a post for each letter of the alphabet can be a bit tough, especially when my focus is books, at least in general. I was going to post a review today, but the title has the word "quilt" in it, so I think I might have to save it for Q day. Q is a tough letter. And then there's the book I'm reading now, which features witches and werewolves. It's just screaming to be used for W, but I'll give you a taste of it with the opening of chapter 1. The book is Witch Interrupted by Jody Wallace. The shop door chimes bonged, rattling the test tubes and Katherine Zhang's teeth. Her hands jerked, and she scattered the point thirty-three ounces of granular ginseng she'd painstakingly measured. By...

Friday Five

It's Friday again! Hallelujah! Today's questions for Friday 5 are about sounds. 1.What is a most pleasant sound to wake up hearing? I hate getting out of bed. There is not pleasant sound to wake up to. 2.What is a most pleasant sound to fall asleep hearing? I like some soft classical music on the radio, but that rarely happens. Usually, I fall asleep to the sound of the fan - my husband's preference. Least pleasant sound to fall asleep to - my husband snoring, but don't worry, I'm sure he would say the same thing about my snoring. It's almost a race to see who can fall asleep first. 3.What’s a more annoying sound: car alarms or leaf-blowers? Car alarms, especially when they just keep going and going. Leaf-blowers don't really bother me. 4.What’s a sound most people seem to like but you hate? A solo violin. Granted, it depends on the music, but some very good violinists have made...

Friday 5: What Do You Like?

It's Friday again! Hallelujah! Today's questions for Friday 5 are about what you like. 1. What do you order to drink when you’re at a fast-food restaurant? I almost always order Dr. Pepper if they have it. My second choice is Cherry Coke. 2. What kind of dressing do you have on your salad when you eat out? It varies. One place in town, Naples, has the best "house" dressing. One other place's house is just too salty so I have French there. If I get a chicken salad, the kind with grilled chicken and French fries on top, I choose ranch. Like this salad, except with chicken instead of steak. 3. What do you like at those self-serve frozen yogurt places? I've never been to one. :( 4. How do you like your popcorn? With lots of butter and salt. 5. What kind of shampoo do you use? Usually Suave. I'm pickier about my conditioner than my shampoo. What about you? What do you like?...

Friday 5

I don't actually have anything to write about today, so I did a quick search for a Friday meme to play along in and found Friday 5, so here goes. 1. What was the last computer accessory you acquired?  This isn't actually a computer accessory, but I bought this adorable Kindle cover from iris+lily. Isn't it just perfect for me? 2. What was the last clothing accessory you acquired? My pretty new scarf, which I'm wearing today. I'm in the mood for spring. 3. What was the last auto accessory you acquired? None, unless you count a new battery. I don't really do car accessories. 4. What was the last accessory you acquired for one of your hobbies? I bought a couple of  pens the other day at CMA. I've been doing Zentangles at work, which is better than banging my head on my desk. 5. What was the last hair accessory you acquired? None recently. I did get it cut a couple of weeks...

Teaser Tuesday

Holmes wandered about the snow-clad summit in fascination, trying to ignore the breathless, lightheaded sensation caused by altitude, while Skye went inside the visitors' center and got coffee and doughnuts. They found a sheltered spot out of the wind, but with an excellent view, and tucked away the food. Holmes was in voluble agreement that the pastries were the best he had ever eaten, and privately noted it made a more than suitable, and quite unique, afternoon tea. -from The Case of the Displaced Detective: The Arrival by Stephanie Osborn Teaser Tuesday is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading....
